Q: How do I pull the third row seat up in a 2006 Toyota Highlander?
I just purchased a used 2006 Toyota Highlander and can’t seem to pull up the third row seat as the bar for the shade pull out in the luggage compartment seems to be in the way. Please someone explain in very simple terms how I do this. Maybe you know of a youtube video to show me how.
A: That “bar” for the shade is called a Tonneau cover. The Tonneau cover comes out by sliding it either to the left or right. Once you remove the tonneau cover, the rear seats will pull up just fine with a pull from the handle located in the center.
Q: 2009 Toyota Highlander Warning light flashing a car with a key?
2009 Toyota Highlander Warning light flashing a car with a key. How do I fix this problem?
A: Steve is correct. The vehicle is not communicating with the FOB.
Check the battery in the FOB. FOB will hibernate when not in in range but cell phones and other electronics can cause it to awake and drain the battery.
Q: How to change 2008 Toyota Highlander tail light?
I am trying to find out how to replace a 2008 Toyota Highlander right tail light. The owners manual doesn’t say how to. Please help?!
A: should be visible screws or open tail gate to see if can get access from the back. If all else fails take to auto parts store and most will show you if you purchase bulb from them.
Q: What did you think of the 2010 Toyota Highlander commercial kid?
The one where the little boy talks about how his family station wagon is “lame” and the Toyota Highlander is cool.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x8EkBVEQMvg
My friends and I were talking about it the other day. They thought it was cute, but I thought the kid was really obnoxious. I know its marketing, but how is promoting bratty kids a good thing? Anyway, I was wondering what others thought of it.
A: Thank God! It isn’t just me!!!
I absolutely HATE that commercial, as well as the laundry detergent commercial where Mom lies about wearing her daughter’s shirt to a club (She is the mother – why is she lying?) and the commerical with the tacos where the parents are so dumb it takes a 5-year-old to tell them how to put meat in tacos, and then they have a fiesta because the adults are so dumb.
So yes, commericals are becoming more obnoxious as time goes by, and we hate it, but besides refusing to buy the products and writing the companies, there isn’t much else you can do.
Q: My power steering fluid level keeps dropping in my 2002 Toyota Highlander?
My 2002 Toyota Highlander was making some weird sounds when I turned to the extreme right or left, I noticed the power steering fluid level was low, so I refilled it, which ended the sound. I’ve only driven the car about 80 miles since re-filling the power steering fluid, and it’s really low again, lower than it should be, almost empty in the chamber. Is it leaking? And if so, where would the leak most likely be found?
A: Fill it up and start the car, then look under the car for the dripping. If is not then turn the wheel from side to side completely and that should show where it is leaking from. If not then you may have to jack it up and look under it while it is running but do not go under the car unless it is safely on jackstands.
Q: How to Remove Grill on 2002 Toyota Highlander?
I bought a new Horn For my 2002 Toyota Highlander. I see the Horn behind the grill; I have taken the 4 black clips on top of the grill cover… NOW WHAT? The Grill is still on there fairly tight and I can’t find any other clips holding it in place.
Thanks, Jo-eL
A: If you pull hard enough, it will break off. So you are probably better off waiting until it is at least 22 degrees above.
Q: I have a 2004 toyota highlander. Yesterday when I made a right turn, the slip indicator light was flashing for
I have a 2004 toyota highlander. Yesterday when I made a right turn, the slip indicator light was flashing for no reason and I also heard an annoying honking sound. This morning when I drove my car again, the slip indicator light was flashing when the speed met >25 mph and can’t drove faster. what is the problem? Thanks.
only the slip indicator light is on
A: ITS A GOOD POSSIBILITY THAT IT NEEDS A REAR AXLE DUE TO THE ABS RING BREAKING. WHICH IS A COMMON PROBLEM. ARE YOUR VSC, TRAC, AND ABS LIGHTS ALL ON OR DO THEY ALL COME ON AT THE SAME TIME?
Q: Where can i rent snow chains for my toyota highlander 2004?
Someone pleease tell me before 11 ish i need to know where i can RENT not buy snow chains for my toyota highlander. i live in orange county. please help
A: why rent? an emergency set of chains is about $25, a good set is about $60. If you want installation, or buy local, it may be more expensive.
You just need to know the size of the tires on your highlander. Your Toyota dealer may be able to hook you up with a good set of chains, or try a tire store near you.
Q: 2004 Toyota Highlander ABS slip indicator light on, drives slowly?
On my son’s 2004 toyota highlander the slip indicator light flashes when the speed reaches >20 mph or so and he can’t drive any faster, it feels like the brakes are holding the car back. Only the slip indicator light is lit on the dashboard. The dealer says it is a $2700 repair but I find that hard to believe. Please help.
A: If the light is flashing, either the traction control or the stability control system is operating. It THINKS it is working normally, so it is very possible that there is a ring loose or cracked, or a problem in a sensor as has been noted. If it is a 2WD model, just turn the system off with the TRAC OFF button located by your right knee. If it is 4WD, there is no switch. For $2700, they obviously think the problem is in the ABS/VSC/TRAC pump/module, and are recommending replacement. If that is true, then the real question comes down to, “Is it worth $2700 for that system to work?” If the answer is no, just disconnect the unit. It is located on the right fender behind the headlight, and it will have a bunch of metal brake lines running to it. If you can get it disconnected, it won’t work, but the brakes will work normally (WITHOUT ABS, VSC OR TRAC!)
Also, if there is a buzzer that goes off at the same time the VSC light comes on, there is a TSB on that condition and you may need to bring it to the dealer’s attention, as it is not that expensive a repair.
Hope this helps. God Bless!
Q: 2002 Toyota Highlander or a 2004 Buick Rendezvous?
I am looking to purchase a new car and have a budget of about $11,000. I have found that I can either afford a 2002 Toyota Highlander with high mileage, near 105k miles or a 2004 Buick Rendezvous with about 50k miles on it. Which vehicle will I have better luck with both MPG, repairs and resale value?
A: Normally I like newer and lower mileage.
However this is a no brainer. Go with the Toyota. It will hold up longer and be more reliable.
The Buick did not have a very good record and is not even made any more.
Q: which is a better car: toyota highlander or toyota rav4?
I’m looking at a2005 toyota highlander and a 2007 Rav4.
I want better gas mileage (don’t care if it’s big)- but I’m tall and I don’t like climbing out of little cars.
A: highlander, but its expensive
Q: How many people fit in a Toyota Highlander?
I want to rent a car for prom and it’s 6 people going in the vehicle, so would a Highlander be good?
A: I personally wouldn’t reccomend it for 6 – and most rental places you will rent them from likely will not have the third row of optional seats, which would technically only provide for 5 seatbelts.
Under the normal configuration of the Highlander, you have 2 captains chairs, and a 3 person back bench.
Optional is the third row of seating, which takes away trunk space (which probably doesn’t matter to you), but likely isn’t available from rental agencies.
If I were you, I would find out which configuration it is, to see if it even has that third row – if not, then keep looking – I love my highlander, but wouldn’t put 6 people in it!
Q: How much will it cost for a 2001 Toyota Highlander Limited Edition replacement key?
A Toyota dealership in town claims it to be $1600. They claim the reason is because it is a 2001 Limited Edition.
But does anyone really know? Just don’t want to get duped!
help!
A: I have recently had the same problem but I did not have the Limited Edition but It did work very well and the programming is surprisingly easy. I would definitely try it before I spent $1600.

Q: What is the AUX port in the Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2008?
I have 2008 highlander hybrid year 2008 with a AUX port near the power outlets. What is the AUX port? What can I use it for? Much detail as possible please? Thanks.
A: You use that to plug in an MP3 player to play on your speaker system. You’ll still have to control the player from the player, but it will play over the sound system.
Q: Where is the OBDI connector located on the 2006 Toyota Highlander?
I’ve heard that it is located “under the dash” but I don’t know where to look. I want to hook-up a code reader that I’ve purchased. The specific model is a 2006 Highlander.
A: OBD II code states – the port must be within three feet of driver, and require no tools to access. If it isn’t in the foot well, check your ashtray. The 2006 Highlander is OBD II.
