Q: 1997 GMC Yukon alot of play in the steering wheel?
Alright, while driving my 1997 Yukon, its obvious theres a problem with the steering.
If im driving on a straight road and put my steering wheel straight, the car doesnt go straight, it goes eather slightly to the right or left. If i step on the brakes and one wheel goes in a long pot hole, the car will force its way to the right/left.
What could be wrong and how much would it cost to fix it?
A: Could be any of the following…
Worn steering linkage…
Tie-rod ends
drag link
pitman arm
Could be slop in the steering gear box’s gear lash…
Bottom line… something is worn… get it inspected as soon as you can… you would not want to loose a tie-rod while cruising on the expressway!
- Good Luck!
Q: what do u think is wrong with my yukon GMC?
My yukon GMC stalled on the freeway! i thought it was the fuel filter! changed it, and after a few mins of it sputering like it was going to blow up! it started running great! i drove it about three miles! then it stalled again..i am now guessing that it is the fuel pump! what do u think it is?
A: Clean throttle Body!!!! you may need to replace the Throttle position sensor or Idle air ( manually clean it out. 80% of your problems will begin in the Throttle Body!!
FYI…………GMC will not sell you a Idle Air. They make you buy the Whole $850 TB assembly. Dont attempt to buy from Online auto parts house! They will not fit!!!!

A: Please call your local GMC dealers parts dept.Ask them your question and they will look up the information on there parts computer that way you will know for sure if these headlamps will interchange.Best of luck.
Q: What kind of radiator do I need to replace a damaged one? 1997 GMC Yukon 4×4?
Hello, I need some help on finding the correct part for my 1997 Yukon 4×4 Automatic with A/C and heater.
Do i need one with a TOC or EOC lines? No i idea what they mean. I’m searching on line for the replacement part yet, I find multiple options on which to choose from. I would buy local but the price i’ve been quoted are in the $240- 400 range. While online i’m looking at $180 being the highest price. Any help would be great thanks.
A: Go to an auto parts store and they will help you. Or go to a dealer they might have the parts to fix it there.
Q: GMC YUKON SLT changing all the speakers and the subwoofer?
How much will it cost to change all the speakers and the rear subwoofer on a yukon SLT? to get around 500-1000 watts? Would like to change all the door speakers front and rear and the subwoofer maybe add another subwoofer how much would this be?
how many speakers and tweeters does it have?
A: Sorry – Way too many variables. You can get a 6×9 speaker for $ 10 or $ 60 or $ 100, so no way to estimate what it would cost…..
Q: I have 2004 GMC Yukon with possible a blown head-gasket, how much will that cost to replace?
Should I consider a new engine?
I bought it only a month ago and have white smoke in the tailpipe, loss of coolant, and unreadable oil level.
A: Having a blown head gasket on such a relatively new gasket is rare. Depending on how the vehicle was driven, (rough, pedal to the metal) and maintained should be you’re determining factor. If it was well maintained with regular driving you’ll be fine. If you drove it hard, didn’t keep up with the maintenance you probably should look into a new engine.
Edit:
If you just bought it then it’s up to you if you want to look into another engine. But first, take it to a mechanic and see which one is which is causing the problems. If the oil on the dipstick is brown or frothy then you do have water in your oil. My guess would be that the head gasket is blown and it could be replaced for around $1100.
Q: How do I reprogram the keyfob for a 2007 GMC Yukon with OEM remote start?
Took it to the dealership for routine service and they told me there was a recal on the key fob and they needed to reprogram it. Now when I press the “start” button on the key fob the rear hatch opens.
Dealership gives me the run around, seems like an easy reprogramming to the normal functions.
Thank you!
A: The directions are in the owner manual for the truck. It doesnt program the keyfob, but programs the body control module to recognize the key fob. so you will have to reprogram all your keyfobs at the same time.
On GM vehicles the procedure is simple. get all the fobs together, get in the vehicle, close the doors, put the key in the ignition and turn it on and off rapidly and stop in the on position. (the manual tells how many times to do this, but my manual is out in the car right now)
If you do this correctly, all the doors will lock and unlock. At this point you should press the lock button on each fob you want to use with the car. once you have done all of them, you can the turn the key to the off position and test the fobs.
Q: In what years are the GMC Yukon and Denali available in a 9 passenger configuration?
I have to buy a new vehicle and it has to be able to seat nine. I only buy GM.
A: 1992-2008. Tahoes(LS,LT,z71,LTZ), Suburbans, Yukon XL(SL,SLE,SLT) and Escalades are the same vehicle too.
Q: How do I aim headlights in a 1999 GMC Yukon Denali?
I have tried the two screws on the top of the headlight (under the hood) but it does not seem to have an effect. The right one seems fine, but the left if high and to the right, almost as far right as the right one. Any suggestions?
A: The adjustment screws are near what your already turning. Instead of the 2 per headlight that are sticking upward, you will need to access the adjusters through holes in the top of the radiator support (the 2 you were probably turning were the ones that hold the light housing in place).
They are torx head bolts, but you can get a small socket on them to adjust (5.5mm or 1/4in or something like that I can’t exactly remember the size). There will be one located at the center of the light (for vertical adjustment), and one on the side (for horizontal adjustment). Look through the holes in the radiator support, near the front of the headlight while the hood is opened. Both adjustment bolts are vertical, and are about an inch inside the access hole.
Use a flashlight to find what I’m talking about, then you will be able to get in there with a bit/socket to adjust the light.
Q: How do we turn on the tv screen in our GMC Yukon to watch a dvd?
It doesn’t seem to work. We pushed all of the buttons. We can turn on the dvd player, and the VCR, and they turn on, but we can’t get any picture on the overhead tv screen. Nothing else seems to work. Any pointers?
Thanks!
It doesn’t seem to have anything in the owners manual related to the dvd system. Maybe it was a custom install, we don’t know. It’s a used vehicle, so maybe the previous owners installed it. Anyone else have a similar setup? Yukon XL 2002 with a dvd/vhs entertainment system?
A: get your owners manual and check it out and see how it works, if you still can’t get it going give your dealer a visit and let him show you, maybe it’s not even working right, let the dealership look at it.
Q: How to remove the fan and clutch from a 1999 GMC Yukon?
I was able to remove the fan, by taking off the screws on the back of the fan, but now it’s trapped between the clutch and the engine.
How would I go about removing the clutch, so as to replace the broken fan?
A: should be four holding the fan remove them llike he said just a good hit will break them lose you should be able to remove it all and then take off the clutch
Q: How hard is it to install a police siren on a GMC Yukon?
Police officer wanting to know how to know how hard it is to install a police siren that consits on the 100 Watt Speaker and Four Tone Full Feature Siren swith panel?
What kind of shops install these if i cant figure it out?
And how much would a install be? Aprox.
District doesnt do personal cars, already inquired.
A: Wouldn’t your district do that for you? I know it’s illegal to personate a police officer, so I don’t think many people would help you, even if you are a police officer.
Q: How do I program the Garage door opener on a 2000 GMC Yukon?
I do not have an owners manual and tried the method i used to program my Accords but it didn’t work. So does anyone know how to program it.
A: Do not use the HomeLink Transmitter with any garage
door opener that does not have the “stop and reverse”
feature. This includes any garage door opener model
manufactured before April 1, 1982.
Be sure that people and objects are clear of the garage
door you are programming.
It is recommended that a new battery be installed in
your hand-held transmitter for quicker and more
accurate transmission of the radio frequency.
Your vehicle’s engine should be turned off while
programming the transmitter. Follow these steps to
program up to three channels:
1. Decide which one of the three channels (one of the
HomeLink buttons) you want to program.
2. Press and hold the desired button on HomeLink
through Step 3.3. When the HomeLink indicator light begins to blink
slowly (this may take up to 30 seconds), hold the
hand-held transmitter about 1 to 3 inches (3 to 8 cm)
away from HomeLink and then press and hold the
transmit button on the hand-held transmitter.
Continue to hold both buttons until the indicator
light on HomeLink begins to flash rapidly (this may
take up to 90 seconds).
If you have trouble programming HomeLink, make
sure that you have followed the directions exactly as
described and that the battery in the hand-held
transmitter is not weak. If you still cannot program it,
move the hand-held transmitter to the left or right or
forward or backward or flip it upside down. HomeLink
may not work with older garage door openers that do
not meet current Federal Consumer Safety Standards.
If you cannot program the transmitter after repeated
attempts, refer to “Training a Garage Door Opener
with Rolling Codes” later in this section or contact the
manufacturer of HomeLink at 1-800-355-3515, or
on the internet at www.homelink.com.
Be sure to keep the original hand-held transmitter in
case you need to erase and reprogram HomeLink.
Q: How can I make my 2007 GMC Yukon play DVDs on the Navigation System while driving?
I want to be able to watch movies while driving back and forth to college, but stores won’t do it for me. Any ideas how to make it work?
A: First of all, it’s a factory system, so the wires aren’t labeled. Second, it’s very unlikely that there’s a parking brake input on the back of the factory Nav system; the unit is connected to the vehicle LAN-bus, so it probably reads the parking brake status off the network. Third, even if you could trick it into thinking the parking brake is set, it STILL isn’t going to play movies while you’re driving. It’s a NAVIGATION system, for God’s sake; it knows when you’re moving.
For all these reasons, what you want to do is probably impossible. That’s lucky for the rest of us, and good thinking by GM, who otherwise would be sued into bankruptcy the next time a college student watching “Girls Gone Wild” while driving slaughtered a family of six.
Q: What exactly do i need in a lowering kit for my 05 gmc yukon denali?
I’ve been looking around and the kits include
Front torsion keys
Rear coils
Air brackets
my suv has leveling airbags, so do i need anything else with the kit?
A: Depending on how low you want it, you could look into some lowering spindles for the front and the rear frame may need to be notched and reinforced. These parts should be available at the same place you found the other parts. Lowering spindles are nice, because you don’t change the front steering geometry. Hope this helps. Christopher
