Q: I want to add an in dash navagation unit to my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado LTZ?
Is there a way to buy the GM nav unit and have it compatable. I have the bose speakers and onstar. My main concern is where and how to mount the gps antenna? If i get an aftermarket nav unit will i loose the stock xm antenna? Any help or suggestions will be appreciated, thanks.
A: Technically, GM issued a bulletin, instructing dealers NOT to install navigation systems in vehicles not originally equipped with that option. You can still find dealers that will do it but many will tell you it can’t be done or that they won’t do it.
If you’ve got factory XM and want to retain it, you will need to stick with the factory radio. (Actually, the factory XM antenna does not plug into the radio. It plugs into a remote XM tuner, which is, in turn, connected to the factory radio.)
In addition to the radio, you will need a nav DVD and the nav antenna. I’ve seen forums where people have done this and some indicated they needed to add a wire for the vehicle speed sensor so the navigation tracked smoothly. If you haven’t done so, you might want to check http://gm-trucks.com They might have a write-up on it. I can’t remember.
You can find the complete set-up for around $1000 if you look around enough. I know you can get the nav antenna here:

Keep in mind that there are two different versions of the nav radio. One plays DVD video and is designed for the rear seat entertainment (rse) system, although the rear screen is NOT required to use this version. (In fact, you will be able to watch DVD movies on the nav screen when the vehicle is in park.) If you don’t think you’ll ever need rse, go with the other version to save a few bucks.
Q: How much is a brand new Chevrolet Silverado tailgate?
minor scratches on the inside and no scratches on the outside.
its already painted graystone metallic this is for a 2008 model
A: A truck is made for hauling, so scratches are a part of ownership. Whenever you go to sell it, drop in a bed liner to cover the scratches.
Q: How do I get CD info on my display for my 2004 Chevrolet Silverado?
how can you burn the disc to where when the cd is playing in your car, that you see the name of the song thats playing instead of track 1 or track 2..etc.?
A: the factory radio can’t do this. it wasn’t designed for that. some can use rds, to display radio info. but won’t work with cd’s
Q: What is the best Power Programmer for a 2009 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD?
My boyfriend’s birthday is next week and he wants a power programmer for his truck but I want to know what the best one is. I was looking at the Diablo Sport. That’s what he had before. Please any help would be great. Thanks
A: Save him the hassle of voiding his 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty and just take him to a nice restaurant.
ANY aftermarket programming will void his warranty, so if he has ANY powertrain component problems, the warranty will not cover it. The warranty covers engine, transmission, transfer case, axles, drivelines and other powertrain components. Thats too risky on a truck as expensive as his. I suggest leaving it alone.
Q: Where is the Vehicle speed sensor located on my 1998 chevrolet silverado K1500 4wd?
Need help locating it and does it send the signal to the speed sensitive steering, or just to the cruise control?
Thanks
A: Your vehicle speed sensor is located on the driver side of the transmission tailshaft. And yes, if you have cruise control and speed-sensing steering then signals from the vehicle speed sensor are fed into the cruise control module and power steering control module.
Q: how do i remove the window crank on my 2006 chevrolet silverado?
i’m removing the panel in order to replace the factory speakers. i’m not quite sure how the window crank is removed. any details would be helpful and greatly appreciated.
A: there is a spring clip that holds the handle on, you need a special tool that any parts store has to get the clip off, the tool just slides in back of the handle and pops the clip off and then the handle will just pull off.
Q: Where do I find a picture of the engine front view for a 1988 chevrolet silverado?
Replaced motor (350) and have no idea where one of the support brackets remount. Thee alternator has two in place , the tensioner has two in place , A/C has one from top of unit to intake manifold. I know it came off of this motor but forgot where!?!?
A: owners maunual. if you have lost it you can probably take it to jify lube or auto dealer or car person and they will be willing to show you for free
Q: where is the fuel pump on a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD extended crew cab?
i think the fuel pump went out and i cant find it. i think it may be in the tank but im not sure.
A: In the fuel tank. It’s easier to get at it by removing the bed of the truck than to drop the gas tank.
Q: Anyone have trouble with their Chevrolet Silverado?
I have a 2000 Silverado, and I have had so many recalls on that thing, and so much stuff has broken that shouldn’t have broken. A while ago the passenger window wouldn’t role down. Recently it was leaking through the brake light into the cab, and there is only 51000 miles on it. GM didn’t build it to last. The best thing the GOVt could have done is let GM fail and start over from scratch.
A: Your pickup only runs as good as you take care of it no matter what brand it is, i would take a chevy over anything—simple to work on and the cheapest.
Q: 2000 Chevrolet Silverado extended cab warning buzzer/chime?
Does anyone know how I can disable or unplug the buzzer/chime that sounds when my key is in the ignition and my door is open with out the engine running? Also where is it located?
A: Follow your ears. If you can find a wiring diagram for the ignition, there is probably a wire attached to the lock cylinder that grounds out when the key is in and the door is open. Cut the wire, end the noise. I disconnected one accidentally on an older Chev, so I don’t know if it will still work. The wire was yellow, if I remember correctly. Be careful if you have Airbags.
Q: Can a half ton Chevrolet Silverado pull a gooseneck horse trailer?
I’m thinking about buying a 5.3 V8 Z71….would like to know if a half ton is capable of pulling a goose neck horse trailer rather than a 3/4 ton….Thanks
A: Chevy 1500 5.3L is able to tow about 8500lbs. MAX. if equipped right. Safely that is.
Nissan TItan 5.6L can pull 9500lbs, again, if equipped right.
Q: is the the 2010 chevrolet silverado and GMC sierra a good truck as in reliability?
i would like one of the two thats the best option
A: Yes they are
just compare it to ToyoDUH and their rusted out recalled POSs. if youre buying GM your supporting the american workers and their families. If you buy GM, your supporting america. It’s July 4th, Marcus. It’s time for you to step up and give back to america by buying from general motors.
Q: Can anyone please tell me where the IAT sensor is on a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado?
I have tried to locate it but I haven’t had any luck. The Intake Air Temperature sensor is supposed to be located somewhere along the air intake system.
A: Probably the air filter box or the intake tube.
Q: How do I remove the sparkplug wires off the plug? Its a 2005 Chevrolet Silverado Truck.?
Does it require a special tool? What part does the metal sleve serve? THANKS
A: just pull…there is nothing special to it. They just snap in.
Q: How do I change the heater core in a 88 Chevrolet Silverado?
Is it difficult?
A: Is it a/c equipped? If it is it is not difficult, and most of the work is done inside and it does come out from under dash. Under hood work is limited to two hoses-radiator drain and maybe a srew or two. Did one a couple of years ago and it was easy.
