Q: Getting a Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5 SE. What are some things I can add to make my car look better?
Im getting the Nissan Altima Coupe 3.5 SE next week. i know the car is pretty loaded but there are a lot of stuff I’m sue I can do to it to make it perform better and look better.

There are some things I’m going to do like add a spoiler, Tint the windows, and lower it, but any other additional suggestions would be awesome even if there little suggestions.

A: I’m unsure of the year, but I’m guessing it’s newer. I’ll be honest with you….tint isn’t really “in” anymore and a spoiler or wing on the trunk of a FRONT wheel drive car just looks retarded. I’ll give you a successful step by step that should help you build a nice looking ride.
1. The first thing you should shop for is suspension. When you lower a car you’ll want to get springs AND shocks. If you just get lowering springs alone your car will bounce around and look stupid because the stock shocks can’t keep up. A full coilover setup is another option. This will also greatly improve the cars handling. Just make sure to get the alignment done right and get it corner balanced.
2. Now that you’ve done the suspension you won’t look like a dork if you change the wheels. You want to keep the outside diameter of the wheels and tires the same as stock so you won’t have to recalibrate your speedo. This means you can increase the wheel size but get tires with a shorter sidewall. That works fine anyways since it’ll improve handling and looks. http://www.tirerack.com has an option to see wheels on your vehicle so you can get an idea of what you like and their database already knows exactly what will fit on your car the best!
3. Now before you go with a body kit or something like that, I’d recommend some go with your show. Shop around for a good intake system and an exhaust system. They aren’t always cheap, but you’ll get some extra horsepower, your car will sound nice (unless you buy a crappy exhaust), and the exhaust always looks nice. 4. Now you can go for a good body kit. I’d check with Stillen for this also. Their kits are usually tasteful and simple. You can shop around with many other companies too…just make sure you don’t buy the dorky knock off kits that look like crap. You’ll usually see the bad ones with goofy names like “combat” or “shogun” or “bomber”. Choose a good kit and you’ll look good.

A: If you want tires to rub and cause other problems like ABS and Slip Lights turning on mess about with wheel diameters. Some cars with VDC will even start to apply the ABS brakes if the car detects different wheel speeds. Some Altima’ come with out ABS and VDC

Q: How long does it take to complete a drive cycle on a 1996 Nissan Altima 5-speed?
I have a 1996 Nissan Altima 5-speed that needs an emissions test. Most of the drive cycle is complete and I have a list of the steps to complete the drive cycle.

I was wondering if I had to do each step in one outing or can I do them on different outings or days. Or even perform some of the steps out of order.

A: I have seen several early 1996 Altimas/ Sentras that never complete all the checks. Evap will not pass if below 1/4 tank or above 3/4 tank. Some States emissions testing allows the 1996 car to run on the rollers for tail pipe emissions and that may be what you need to do (in Texas). Replacing the Engine Control Module some times fixes the non complete drive Cycle too.

Q: How to install led light strips on interior of 2010 nissan altima?
I have just recently leased a 2010 nissan altima and i wanted to get street glow led strips for the interior with the music interface. It is hard to install if i never have done i before? Also will it void the warranty? If you can please give me instructions on how to do it please. Thanks!

A: Street Glow web site and instructions on the packaging. If you break interior parts installing LED’s those will not be covered by Nissan Warranty. Extra wiring gets in the way when your Nissan Technician needs to remove interior trim to preform warranty work. Just a lot of flash and not necessary to make the car go. I have a 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5S model. My mechanic told me my serpentine belt was cracked and needed to be replaced asap. I also took my car to a Nissan dealership and they said Altimas don’t have serpentine belts. They said the driving belt needed to be replaced. Does anyone know what kind of belt an Altima has and how hard is it to be installed. I was quoted $100 including labor at a local shop and $189 at Nissan. Thanks.

A: yes it has a serpentine belt .that is your driving. it may also have a v-belt for your power steering .it has a tension release that is very easy to change but its not that expensive .100.00 is not bad deal 4 parts n labor. its according to your funds. the serpentine belt is wide like an inch or two depends

Q: What size rims can fit on a 2008 Nissan Altima?
I was just trying to figure out what’s the biggest set of rims I can get on a 2008 Nissan Altima Sedan w/o changing the tires or getting a lift. Thanks in advance!

A: Yes 20” rims can fit on the 02-08 Altimas, actually you can get 22” on them as well. You just have to make sure you have a low profile tire like a 35 series, a great tire size for 20” without having to worry about any kind of rubbing what so ever is a 235/35/20. With 22” just get spring boosters for your back and the perfect tire for that is 235/30/22, i actually have a 255/30/22 tire made by nexen and they ride smooth.

Q: how do you take out a factory cd player out of a nissan altima?
I have a 2001 nissan altima and i wish to install a better cd player, but i don’t know how to uninstall the factory cd player.

A: remove the gear shifter bezel and you’ll see two (2) screws. Also remove two phillips screw located above the radio openning. Now you’ll be able to remove the radio trim bezel. There should be 4 screws holding the strero in. You’ll still need that dash kit (Metra 99-7417)

I have a 1998 Nissan Altima and I was wondering if anyone knew of any engines that would work fairly well in my car, that are also common swaps.

A: I dont know of people doing them on sucha car but if you had a good mechanic with fabrication skills you could prob swap a VQ35DE from the 350z, the 4.6l from the titan, or the V6 from the newer altimas.

Could it possibly be the same size as the 2010 one? H11?

A: I know there is a section in your owners manual section 8 page 30 your headlight bulb is H-11. Your lights are warrantied for 3 years or 36,000 miles if you mess up the bulb, clip, plug, melt the headlamp assembly or cannot get the cover back on the warranty on that sides bulb headlamp assembly may be void.

A: Typically for most standard cars a mechanic charges between $100 and $150 to replace all the pads. Anything that is broke is more, of course.

Q: How do i fix the bose in my 2007 Nissan Altima?
I have a 2007 Altima 3.5 SE with the upgraded bose navi package. I was listen to the radio and all of a sudden a speaker in the back blowed. I called my local nissan dealership to estimate the costs, but they didnt even know. Can i replace the speaker with one from a 2003 Altima?

A: Take the speaker out and bring it to an audio store. I’m sure they can find you a replacement. The dealership will kill you for it. Better yet, just take the car to the audio shop.

Q: How do you turn on the dome light in a Nissan Altima?
I recently purchased a 2004 Nissan Altima and the dome light does not come on when I open the door. Is there a switch somewhere to make it come on?
I have not tried replacing the bulb or done any other electrical work. Most cars have a switch for “on/off/door.” I’m hoping this switch is in the off position. If Altimas do not have such a switch, I will try replacing the bulb.

A: When you enter the car, make sure there is no other noise or voice. Then say in a clear voice “ILLUMINATE”.

Q: How do you turn off the check engine light on a ‘02 nissan altima?
I have a ‘02 Nissan Altima with the check engine light stuck on and have already pulled the code out for low emissions leak. I just need to reset the thing without having to pay someone else an arm and a leg, and a couple of kids to have them take 5 minutes and viola. I know there’s got to be an easy way to fix this. Please help!

A: You can turn the check engine light off with an OBD2 code reader that has a code erase button on it, but the light will come back on unless the cause of the problem is repaired.
