Q: Does anyone know Hondas future plans for the CBR600F?
I am looking to buy a new CBR600F with a forthcoming pay rise – it’s light, agile and pretty much perfect. But dealers are running out of 2007 CBR600Fs and there’s no mention of it in the 2008 line-up or on Hondas website – Are they just junking the concept or are they planning on making a new one? Are there any other bikes that compare to the CBR600F?

A: I’ve just bought a CBR600F as my first bike – being delivered Monday! During my search i spoke to a number of dealers one of which said the 600F has been discontinued so won’t be in the 2008 range at all.

If you can believe this he said too many people have been buying the 600F taking sales away from the CBR600RR so Honda’s solution is to ditch the F.

Thinking logically you would think if the F is that popular there will be a replacement along sooner or later.

Q: What are some good dependable and cheap cars besides Hondas and Toyotas?
I’m trying to broaden my search from just Hondas and Toyotas. I know they’re good but is there anything else out there I should keep my eye open for?

A: Mazda and Nissan make good cars. Hyundai cars are definitely better than they used to be, but they are still below Honda and Toyota. The new Saturn Astra in nice..The Chevy Cobalt and Ford Focus generally get good reviews, but they’re kind of ugly if you ask me. I would look at a Mazda3 or an Astra if I were you.

Q: Why do kids have a key chain hanging from the bottom bumper of their Hondas?
Whenever I drive around, I see people with keychains on the bottom of their Hondas. Like the key chain that snaps on to backpacks and stuff. Why do people do this? Do they think it looks cool?

A: They’re probably getting shocked when they get in or out of their car and someone told them to hang a chain to ground the car. When you slide across a seat the action of your clothing rubbing against the upholstery generates static electricity. Then you touch the metal on the car it discharges causing a shock. It’s easy to prevent by making a habit of touching a metal surface and holding it while you slide out of the car. If you’re touching the metal the static will not build. The chain really doesn’t help.

Q: Why do people rice out their hondas and whatnot?
I keep seeing these guys with their hat sideways with a huge muffler, body kits, wings, and other crap on their hondas acting like their the fastest thing on the road. I know that none of these things give much(if any) power to these cars. yes i know there are fast japanese cars out their but a majority of them are economy cars with less than 200hp. I drive a full size truck ‘raced’ one of these cars a today and it was like he was going in reverse! Why do people do it?
To Maxwell: I know you are very proud of your ‘kustom kool’ imports, but if i had put HALF the money into say a 2002 Trans Am WS6 it would run circles around all of your cars. I never said they were all slow, i do recall mentioning there are some fast and respectable imports out there. But is it worth 13k to most people just to say your faster than say a mustang(for your info i hate mustangs). And 95% of those cars out there dont have these mods. Just cosmetic bolt ons. You can tell these guys dont know sh*t about performance if they are putting a spoiler on a front drive car. 11 second times are very respectable. But the 1987 buick turbo regal i had ran consistent high 11’s low 12’s with about 2k in bolt ons. And guess what? it was a fuel injected V6! With 119k on the stock block to add to that. What i am saying is tuner cars that actually have go are very respectable. but a 127 hp honda with a fart pipe? I’ll take the T/A..

A: I for one have a 1997 NSX(6cyl), a 2000 Honda Prelude Type-SH(4cyl), and a 1995 Civic VX(4cyl)

Now, the NSX (yellow) has a lipkit on it, lowered 19″ wheels w/ Yokohama Parada Spec 2’s, CROWER Stage 3 Cams’, CROWER Valve Train, CROWER Cam Gears, HKS exhaust system, AEM CAI, headders, a Port & Polish Job, Vale Job, JDM Honda Emblems (Red), Chipped ECU.. ALl done and said – weekend car mostly. Ran a 11.83 @ 119mph @ Fromoso.(approx. $13,000 invested)

Now, the Prelude (Pearl white)…It has a Full Mugen Body Kit, lowered on 17″s, exhaust system, CAI, Port & Polish, CROWER Stage 2 Cams, CROWER Came Gears, CROWER Stroker Kit, CROWER Stage 2 Valve Train, Turbonetics Turbo Kit, OBX Turbo Manifold, 50mm BOV, Short Throw Shifter, Chipped ECU w/ Apex’i VAFC., ect., ect. (fully built to the BRIM) That, is a…show/track car. Ran a 11.2 @ 126mph (18psi) at Fromoso Dragstrip on Street Tires (Yokohama Parada Spec 2’s) (over $20,000 invested)

Hahaha, the civic…..Daily shit box. Exhaust, 15″ wheels, CAI, CROWER Stage 1 Cams, Headders, Lowered, Type-R wing. Thats it. Only have it cause it takes regular gas…the other 2 take premium. (approx. $3,000 invested)

Why did I do ALL of those mods, you may ask?

Because, I have the money to spend…because I like the way custom imports look.

All of my cars are Honda’s. I can GUARENTEE that 2 of them will take a Shitstang GT any day of the week and twice on Sundays. Just cause a 4-cyl and a 6-cyl HONDA can beat your “all mighty & tough” Mustang or Camaro, dosent give you the right to bash on them. They OWN you. Well, not stock ones, but modded ones. Well—the stock NSX can beat a GT. Anyways. What im saying is — everyone has thier own tastes in cars! Let them do what they wanna do. Just cause it may have a HUGE Spoiler, bodykit and oversized wheels, doesnt mean he’s not hiding a suprise under the hood. ;)

Incase you are wondering why I have ALOT of Crower stuff – We build Racing motors for people..and I get 50% of MSRP.

ADDITIONAL INFO:5/16/06

Thats not really true, even if you have a FWD car, it its fast enough, you could use a *small* wing. Im not for the HUGE aluminium wings, but all my cars have small wings. The prelude has a “flat” wing (that comes off the decklid), the NSX has the NSX-R Wing, which comes up about 1ft. the Civic has a REAL Civic Type-R wing from Japan. Everything can use a lil’ downforce. I mean, I know its so minute it dosent seem like anything. I personally have pinned the speedo in the Prelude at 155mph @ 7,800rpm, and it keeps pulling to 8,600rpm…so im guessing my speed it about 165-170mph. The NSX I have gone 180mph. The civic….that goes about 120mph. Dont call me crazy. I have been racing cars for 11 years, I have gone to 3 different racing schools. I also race 125cc Shifters that go 0-60 in like 2.2 seconds. I had a Ducati 999R, that was stolen at the begining on this year.

Anyways, I dont think its “worth” 13K just to say that its faster than a Mustang GT. A STOCK Prelude is almost as fast, a STOCK NSX is FASTER, but the civic…bless its heart, just cant compete. I just wanted a lil’ transpo car.

Now, I am NOT saying that Domestics are worthless. I have a 2001 Ford Ranger EDGE 4×4. I also have the new GT500 on order. Yes, I HATE mustangs from…1989+. I LOVE the 1960’s+ Shelbys and such, my uncle had a 1968 GT350 that I fell in LOVE with when I was a kid. The only reason I like the Shelbys is because I do know Carroll Shelby, not real well, but I have met him on several occasions (due to being in the Shelby Club of America).

To end this, I will re-enact the scene today at a gas station (driving the Prelude).

Me: Holy shit…gas is 3.89 for premium..
Hot woman w/stang: Why do you put that good stuff in that piece of shit?
Me: *odd look* Because, UNLIKE YOU, my car has a high-performace motor.
Woman: Fuck you, asshole. *she takes off*

Ya, her car was a Mustang…V6. Wow, what a POS. My civic can take one. My civic actually makes about 157hp at the wheels, which isnt bad…considering it only weighs about 2,400lbs. My old 2002 Mini S didnt make that much at the wheels, and that was S/c’d.

If anyone wants to contact me; Maxwell222000@yahoo.com I also have the Yahoo! Messenger.

Q: Is there a multiplayer online racing game with Hondas?
Hello is there a massive multiplayer online racing game such as Drift City, Project Torque, and Sypeout with Hondas in it?

Such as the Honda S2000, Civic Type R, and NSX?

Do you know if any of the above games have’em?

Thank you!

A: NOPE

Q: Do Hondas need a radio for their blinkers to work?
My 97 honda accord LX got broken into last night, and they took the radio, and in the process ripped out the panel that had the flasher button on it. I was wondering if the blinkers would stop working if the radio or flasher button were not connected (missing). My brother told me that some hondas have the blinkers tied in to the radio.

A: worked on a dawo lanos 98 the other day took out the plastics around the air vents that had the clock hazard lights and rear fog , did the work on the intrument cluster (speedo temp etc) turned the key and no indicators 5 minutes later smacked myself in the head the problem was no hazard switch which was leaving an open circuit for them to work

Q: Why do Hondas think that cows are sacred?
Hondas are a religion in India who worship cows. I have tried to Google it but all I get is some stuff about a crappy car.

A: Troll, why don’ t you go back under your bridge and wait for some nice Billy Goats to come by?

Q: Doesn’t it seem like the new HONDAs and Toyotas are giving more problems than american cars?
I hear of all these people having problems with their brand new Hondas and Toyotas. Aren’t they just getting as bad? I had an 07 camry, the ac went out at 24k and the transmission was acting up. I think these new Kia’s and Hyundai’s are doing better when it comes to reliability what do u think?

A: I think Toyota got so big & shifted manufacturing to the US that clearly quality has suffered. Honda’s are still good depending on the model. Nissan has gotten considerably better especially the Sentra & Altima. I would still avoid the Korean makers b/c their history still dogs them from past reliability issues. Sure their cars are better, but that still doesn’t mean their resale has improved. In American made cars, the Ford Focus has consistently received excellent reviews. The Chevy Malibu gets 33 mpg & has won numerous awards for quality. The all new Buick LaCrosse next year will be awesome packing a 285hp version V6 from the Camaro & Caddy CTS. I wish I could say good things about Dodge. The only good thing about that maker is the larger trucks equipped with the Cummins diesel engines are still preferred over GM & Ford. In the spring of 2010 GM will start production of the Chevy Cruze. It will have a 1.4L turbo engine that will get 40 mpg. The car looks great & I will consider it since it will come out when I usually buy a new car every three yrs. Anyway, I think so many people have convinced themselves that foreign cars are better that they have forgotten the good things about US built cars. And I can clearly see that they are getting better. I’m glad GM & Chrysler went bust for the moment. It was time they see what they’ve been building doesn’t reflect the global market. It was time to take out the trash.

Q: How long do timing belts ususally last in Hondas?
I have a Honda Civic that has about 68,000 miles on it. Should I get the timing belt replaced? I travel alot for work and I’m afraid it will just blow and I’ll be screwed.
Any advice?

A: recommended every 60,000 miles. i did mine about 10,000 miles ago. not something i would want to gamble on and leave in place to fail. find a good shop and take it in.

Q: Is it really necessary to change the timing belts in Hondas?
I have a “97 Crv with 100,000 miles that has never had the belt replaced. I hear from a few people that I should think about getting my timing belt and water pump replaced.

A: honda’s have what they call ” interference engines”. what this means is that when the timing belt breaks, that valve to piston damage will occur. replace your timing belt and stay within all your regular maintinance guidelines. the replacement of your engine or repir to your cylinder head can cost in the thousands of dollars. best advise, take care of your car

Q: Why do people say people who drive Hondas and some other cars are ricers?
Why do people have to call others ricers just because they drive a Honda?? People can fix their cars up if they want to, we all don’t like those boring looking muscle cars and we don’t all have money for a lamborghini.
You hunt people in your Pontiac Grandam? Lmfao.
Theres nothing wrong with driving a Civic that looks nice.

Theres something wrong with you if you think a Pontiac grandam is fast and is cool.

A: The reason they say that is because the big v8 they have cant beat a little 2 liter engine. People always gonna talk shit. O ‘well by the way I love imports, gotta Mitsu Evo 9 smoke v8 all day laugh.

Q: Does anyone know of an independent specialist that fixes Hondas?
I live in NEPA, so anywhere in the surrounding areas, including NW NJ. Thanks.

A: http://www.iatn.net/shopfinder/

Q: What is the difference between these hondas?
I want to soop up a honda civic si hatchback.I want to get a new japanese motor for it.I talked to a friend of mine about it and he said to go with the 92-95 honda civic si hatch backs because the rest are not as good.I see a 91 hatchback si on craigslist but wonder what the difference would be.Is there much of a difference?i know the engines for 91 are the same as 87-91 and differ at 92.What would be better to hook up?

A: Your friend is right the 92-95 model gives you way more options in regards to customization & is overall the improved version of the 91 model(which is an exceptional machine as well). I know you can swap the prelude motor(with a little creativity & a shoe horn!) into the 92-95 model aside from the usual B16A swap. If you find a Type R engine & tranny from Japan, be sure to get the ECU & other engine management components to make it all work properly & to exert maximum power. I’ve owned several CRX’s/Civic’s coming thru college & I regret selling any of them. My 86 SI was the only one to undergo an engine swap (from a SiR CRX-JDM only). There’s alot you can do with either car but that list is even longer with the 92-95 models. Hope it helps, have fun building your custom & GO FAST OR GO HOME!!

Q: does a sunroof on acuras and hondas have pipe that lets the water out?
i think all the water is getting in my rear panel and the quater panel and rusting. i noticed my trunk is always wet and my back seat also. is it dangerous to keep on driving around like this or is it ok?

A: The chanel is attached to a drain pipe down both rear quarters. The drain is stopped up clean the debris out it’ll be allright

Q: Why do hondas cars require different fluids?
They seem to use always a different fluid than what you would commonly use. Is the honda civic maintenance (parts and labor) economical than others?

A: Not sure what you mean, but a civic is one of the better models out there
and they do not require anything more or less special than any other car.
