Q: What is the purpose of the circle in the front of the Honda Fit?
I just bought a 2009 Honda Fit and on the driver’s side of the front bumper there is a indented outline of a circle. Does anyone know what the purpose of this feature is? The owner’s manual does not mention it.
A: The cover pops off and the tow hook that is located in your hatch with your spare tire tools screws onto there.
Q: What kinds of things have you hauled in your Honda Fit?
I am interested in the utility of the Honda Fit. What can it carry? Has anyone hauled lumber (2X8’s) without anything sticking out the window or hatch?
A: I dont think a 8 feet lumber will fit in the Hon Fit. But u could carry them on the roof, with towel underneath or roof rack
Though, my old sedan camry carried inside four 2X4 X10ft and eight 2X4X8ft with trunk closed, believe me or not
Q: Are there any Honda Fit models that come with a leather interior?
I’m going to get my first car soon and I’ve choosen the honda fit. It’s the perfect car for me. The only problem is that alot of them come with cloth interiors and I prefer leather.
A: No. Neither the base or the sport are available with leather as an option or accessory.
You would have to get it as an aftermarket upgrade.
Q: How Long will do you think a Honda Fit Sport can last?
I have an opportunity to buy a used Honda Fit Sport for very cheap with 97k miles. It has had its regular maintenance at the dealer. However, I am afraid to buy a car with that many miles. I don’t have a lot of money, so a new one is not an option. Do you think I would be buying a car that will fail in 30k miles?
A: The Honda Fit was rated as one of the most reliable vehicles in its class. Hondas, in general, are well renowned for their stability and long-lasting performance.
If it helps, I own a Toyota (which is another name that is associated with long life and reliability) that is over 130k miles and still purrs. And that’s after I’ve put it through hell and back (like changing the oil only once a year and driving it through a South Dakota snow/dust storm in February).
I say get the car. I personally love my Honda Fit Sport. I did a lot of research before I decided on getting that particular model, and I’m very happy with my decision all around.
Q: In order to buy a new Honda Fit, one has to wait several months for delivery. What are the possible causes?
(Please select ALL that apply)
1 Honda over-estimated its ability to produce Fits.
2 Honda under-estimated its ability to produce Fits.
3 Demand for the Fit is higher than expected.
4 Demand for the Fit is lower than expected.
5 Honda’s price for the Fit is below the equilibrium market price.
A: 2,3,5
Q: Re: the Honda Fit – should one be concerned that the gas tank sits underneath the front seats?
In researching to buy a second car it came down to a Scion XD or a Honda Fit for me. I liked both fairly evenly until I learned that the Honda Fit has its gas tanks underneath the front seats. This caused me some concern as to its safety in the event of a crash. Any thoughts?
A: As has been stated by other posters, the position of the gas tank where it is should cause you no problems unless you get into an accident that would have other major catastrophic results.
Placing the tank between the steel framework of the chassis makes this among the safest places in case of a front or rear end collision. Even a 30MPH side collision would be fairly secure, though the occupants of the car might be in need of hospitalization (no matter what brand of car you drive!)
One of my first cars was a ‘71 VW Beetle and the gas tank was just behind the dash board at waist level when I sat in the car. I felt reasonably safe with that. Heck, I even managed to survive a couple of rides in a ‘59 Ford pick up truck, and the gas tank was right behind the passengers inside the cab!
I still plan to buy a Fit Sport. It’s the best deal on the market this year!
Q: What would be better for my money a 2009 honda fit or a 2009 Toyota Corolla?
I am interested in buying a new vehicle and I have researched and am down to three cars. 2009 Honda Fit 2009 Toyota Corolla 2009 Mazda Mazda3. Which one will be most reliable and better for my money?
A: i’d go with the corolla
Q: What color was the Honda Fit on America’s Next Top Model tonight?
I watched the show but some how I must have missed the Honda Fit color. Please help!
A: Yeah me to! Like a Night hawk black pearl.
Q: Can someone explain the paddle shifters on a Honda Fit Sport?
All right, so I’m going to be getting a Honda Fit Sport (2010 model) here pretty soon. I’m going to get the automatic but it has (And I’ve seen in person) the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. So are these like a clutchless manual? Do I have to choose between automatic, or manual shifting with those? Thanks!
A: the automatic is a 5 speed transmission that will shift on its own as a normal automatic transmission will. for those who feel ‘racy’ and want to control the shift points the paddle shifters can be used to “flick” through the gears. The automatic transmission control unit will only allow you so much flexibility based on engine speed and transmission gear selection so that you don’t over-rev the engine by selecting a downshift at too high an engine speed so it will wait until the engine speed drops into an acceptable range to execute the command from a paddle shift input do downshift.
this is not a clutchless manual. it is a 5 speed automatic transmission that allows you to select the gears if you wish. there is a default automatic mode. if you use the paddle shifters then it goes to manual input with automatic transmission control unit being in control. to enter the manual mode you only need to use the paddle shifter. to exit the manual mode you use the paddle shifter to cancel the manual shifting and re-enter full automatic transmission control.
hope that answers your question
Q: honda fit?!?
is it any good?!
my parents are planning on getting me one and i wanted to know if anyone has one to tell me if they love it or not.
thanks for all the answers so far
but just adding that:
im 5′2 and pretty small
A: I have a 2008 Fit Sport with a Manual Transmission, and I LOVE it…
It’s great on gas, has lots of room for a car it’s size, and fun to drive. My only issues with it were:
Lack of a comfortable place to put your non-driving foot
Lack of an armrest
Both issues have been resolved with aftermarket items, which cost me about $125 bucks…
Something to consider, the manual transmission is much better on gas…and helps in the “zippy” department…
Q: Does the basic model of the 2009 Honda Fit have iPod capabilities?
I am thinking about buying at 2009 Honda Fit but I want the basic model. Is there a plug that I can connect my iPod to and play music through my speakers or does that only come with the sport model?
A: well looks like it does, both standard/sport model. look on the “audio system” category. on “MP3/Auxiliary Input Jack”
you could also use a FM transmitter, but not really recommended since its not gonna be high quality sound. here is the link.
Q: What does a Honda Fit run on the quarter mile with a K20 Swap in it?
Honda Fit runs 17.3 seconds stock, I think. It weighs like 2,500. a K20Z3 has 220hp and about 152 torque or 142. K20Z3 is from a Honda Civic Si 2006+.
A: The easiest way to find your answer is to plug in the cars weight with driver and the hp into an online calculator. Here are some very good calculators I found.
http://spoonhonda.com/quarter_mile_et_calc.html – simple and fairly accurate ET calculator
http://www.nightrider.com/biketech/accel_sim.htm – not simple but very accurate ET calculator
2,390 lb First-generation Fit 2001-2008
2,646 lb Second-generation Fit 2008+
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_Fit
K20Z3 197 bhp (bhp= at the flywheel)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honda_K_engine#K20Z3
2,390 lb Fit + 160 lb driver = 2550 lb
2550lb @ 197 bhp = 14.42 sec. on 1/4 mile

Q: can i trade in a suburban for a honda fit with the cash for clunkers program?
i have a 92 gmc suburban with some damage on the front end from a minor crash. it runs perfectly well, and i have been driving it daily for years since the crash. will i be able to trade it in for a honda fit using the Cash for clunkers program?
A: Yes!!! Those are the type of cars the government wants to take off the roads because the newer cars are better for the environment and buying a new car also helps the dealers sell cars. i took in my uncles old 1985 chevy and it had scratches and a few dents and they still took it.
Q: Can you add an auxiliary input to a 2008 Honda Fit?
Hi, I have a 2008 Honda Fit (not sport) and want to add an auxiliary input or some kind of iPod connector in it. I currently am using an FM transmitter but there is only one outlet in the car and I need to use it for my GPS. Also when I am driving long distances the reception is terrible. Does anyone know if there is something I can buy to add the auxiliary input or if I can go to a shop and get it done?
Thanks!
A: I found the best thing since sliced bread…http://www.crutchfield.com/S-9oDEWuNVIo6/cgi-bin/prodview.asp?i=142FMMOD01
It’s not wireless so there’s no interference. Not to be confused with an FM transmitter. Basically it adds an AUX input to ANY radio. No searching for a clean channel.
It feeds your audio signal from a headphone jack ( or RCA cables) by FM modulation, directly into the antenna input on your radio bypassing the antenna when on, allowing the radio to work as normal when off. It comes with an On/Off switch.
This is the answer. Totally versatile.

Q: Does anyone have the actual cargo dimensions for the Honda Fit?
I am considering buying a Honda Fit. However, I move displays for work and I wanted to find actual cargo dimensions, as opposed to volume in cubic feet. Anyone know the actual measurements of the cargo space with the back seats down? How about the hatchback opening?
Honda only provides the measurements in terms of cubic feet of cargo room, not actual measurements in terms on width, height, etc
A: look on the honda website
