For more information about new BMW 5-Series visit your top automotive resource MixedPower.com

Q: When are the new BMW 5 Series and Mercedes CLK350 body styles coming out?

A: I believe mid to late 2009, I’m so excited to see the new 5, if it’s anything like the new 3 it’s going to be HOT!! and if you look at the new Mercedes CLK 550 the new CLK body styling should look a lot like that

Q: How does the new BMW 5 series handle in the snow?

A: its all depends on a driver……

Q: Future BMW 5 series new look?
Does anyone know how different the future bmw 5 series will look from the current 2009 5 series?

A: I haven’t heard of this … I am excited to see it! I think it’s due for a makeover.

Doesn’t BMW change the design of their models every 5-6 years?

Q: Is it true that u can’t turn off the sat-nav in the new BMW 5 series?

A: You can turn it off on the dash display but it is still operating passively. I’m not 100% certain what you are asking.

Q: which is better?: New Mercedes E series or New BMW 5 Series?
Please take into account: reliability, overall quality, handling, performance, comfort, durabiltiy…that is, the whole package!! Thanks for the input…just want to make an informed purchase.

A: Reliability: BMW. Mercedes have a terrible reputation for poor build quality.
Handling: BMW. The ultimate driving machine. Mercedes are heavy and their drive by wire system is not very responsive.
Performance: Both. It really depends on which models you get.
Comfort: Mercedes. The 5-series does not have comfortable seats and the interior is rather bland and cold compared to the Merc.
Durability: BMW. This goes right along with the reliability.

Also, the new E-class looks rather horrendous IMO

Q: should I get new BMW 5 series 520d? or 525d?
Tigady (below) you havent got a clue – 1 dont run on on gas 2 very economical diesels actually – doh

A: Depends if your main concern is fuel economy or not. The 4-cylinder engine in the 520d is great and you should get around 50 mpg with it.

The 6-cylinder 525d makes a much nicer noise and the power delivery is smoother than the 4-pot engine.

However, there is not a great deal of difference in overall power (20bhp and 50nm) – both can be re-mapped to give a fair amount of extra clout. The 520 should go to around 210bhp from 177 and the 525 to around 240 from 197.

If fuel economy is not an issue and your budget will stretch, go for a 6-cylinder, but a 530d or even a 535d. Much more power than the 525d and barely any difference in economy.

In fact, I would say, DON’T buy new, find a 6-12 month old car – market is on it’s knees at the moment. Get yourself a bargain!!

Q: when is new bmw 5 series coming out?

A: Hard to say. BMW never follows the every four to five year rule like most other manufacturers do.

E12 – 1972-1981 9 years
E28 – 1982-1988 6 years
E34 – 1989-1996 7 years
E39 – 1996-2003 7 years
E60 – 2004-

So if I had to guess, 2011. But there is some talk of the next 5 in 2010:

http://www.bmwblog.com/2007/05/07/preview-2010-bmw-5-series-revealed/

Q: Mercedes CLK or the new 5 series BMW?

A: Check out 5th gears site: http://fifthgear.five.tv/
They do good reviews here.

Q: New BMW 5 Series or Jaguar XF?
A family member of mine is looking at getting one of these cars. Which would you get out of a 520d automatic or an XF 3.0D (the 245hp one)?

Annual mileage: 10000
The extra performance of the jag isnt that important, main things are quality, luxury etc. The Jag is a few thousand more to buy and will cost more to run, do you think it’s worth it.

A: 5 series has a better interior than the XF but it has a weak engine.
The XF looks better, drives better, is better. BMW is better quality for builtness. BMW is more luxurious but the Jag just is better.

Final Score

XF 5-series
4—–2

In Rugby 42-21

In Australian Football 16.10.106 vs 9.12.66

In Cricket T20
5-175 vs 7-150

Test match

340 & 6-377 vs 281 & 222

ODI
4-243 41.4 Vs 7-242

Q: Does the new BMW 5 Series only come in Manual?
and if you don’t believe me go check it out yourself.

http://www.bmwusa.com/standard/content/byo/default.aspx
I was looking at their site and where you build your own car there’s only manual transmission for any 5 series model. I personally think thats awesome but It just kinda hard to believe since its supposed to be luxury and some people consider manual to be not luxury. Is this just some kind of glitch or did BMW actually make only manual for the 5 series?
Oh ok thanks i figured it out. It does come in auto also.

And for those of you that are saying it only comes in manual, BMW isn’t going to stop making manual for a long time. Its their thing. It wouldn’t be the ultimate driving machine if it was automatic

A: The 2010 5 series comes in Automatic and Manual, its probably a glitch in the website. http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/BYO/Byohome.aspx?enc=GFcxBBc/G1S7UqtIuG6OyCBZsDruR21ZJ/BEEk4JCMg=

Q: Can someone please show me what the new 2010 BMW 5 series will look like????!!!!?
I have looked online and I have found countless version of what the 2010 BMW 5 series will look like. I have already seen the legit 2010 BMW 5 series (Grand turismo) but how will the sedan look like??? When you Google it, there are about 10 versions and Pictures of the 2010 5 series with a numerous amount of different front fascias and headlights/Taillights? can anyone direct me to a picture to what should be the 2010 BMW 5 series?? I want to know what the design they have settled on knowing its coming out next year, yet i cant find one picture that displays the real design BMW has settled on for the 2010 5 series???
(Chris2EM)- Thanks for the help, although i do believe the car will come out into the luxury car market in 2010 but will labeled and debuted as a 2011 model. Thanks anyway.

A: If you’re looking for the 2010 5 series, the first answer has the right car.

If you’re looking for the new 2011 F10 5 series….

http://www.bimmertoday.de/2009/11/25/5er-premiere-das-exterieur-des-bmw-550i-f10/

http://www.bmwusa.com/Standard/Content/AllBMWs/FutureVehicles/20115SeriesSedan/ImageGallery.aspx

That is what it looks like.

Q: Peterol or Diesel BMW 5 series new shape?(UK please)?
Given the current climate my mind says diesel, but what do you think?

A: .
.
Because of advances that BMW (and to a certain degree, other manufacturers) have made in engine technology, the differences between petrol and diesel engines is now very small, and in some cases, insignificant. So whether you shall go for a petrol or diesel 5 series is really up to what your heart shall tell you.

For comparison -

A BMW 520d produces 177hp, 350Nm of torque, and 136g/km CO2. It does 0-60 in 8.3secs and reaches 144mph, and will do 55mpg.

A BMW 520i produces 170hp, 210Nm of torque, and 136g/km CO2. It does 0-60 in 8.7secs and reaches 139mph, and will do 35mpg.

Although the 520d may look on paper like the better choice, you have to consider that it costs much more to buy than the 520i. And as you know, diesel costs more in UK than petrol. So you will pay more per litre than petrol. In the end, these two cars given here as examples will be more or less neck and neck in the long term.

I personally hate diesel cars inspite being as popular as they are in UK (and in other parts of Europe). I drive a 58 Reg M5. And please don’t ask me why.
.
.

Q: I want to buy a new car which one should i get im between the Audi A6 BMW 5 series and the new dodge Charger ?
i really like the Audi A6 but the BMW is also nice and my husband likes the charger… which one do you think is better..?

A: When one buys ANY new car. That Automobile Loses a minimum of %4,000.00 when Taxed, titled, licensed and driven off the lot. Even those “Program” cars, which are nothing more than Untitled New Cars. My wife works a a Dodge Dealership and if money is no object and payments are no object, we recommend the Audi. However, if you are looking for Value, Warranties and overall performance you may want to consider the Dodge & you are not upside down in a trade, and even if you are upside down, we can get you a deal that is called “The friends and Family Discount. We suggest buy a low milage used car vs. a NEW car. The reason is that one doesn’t lose value as quickly, most 1 year old and 2 year old autos still have the transferable factory warranty and the finance companies will still finance at decent rates. Interest rates are dependent on your credit score, which should be between 600-750 and quality you for for a low 7%-9.9% rate. If you want a new Dodge, leave your name and email and I can help you save $$. If you want an Audi, my information goes for that auto too. Whatever you decide, good luck and I hope I have been helpful.

Q: When will the BMW 5 series get a new look? I want to buy a 2004 520i.?

A: The newest rendition of the 5-series is due in 2008 but changes will be minimal much like the differences in the 1999 E39 and 2003 E39 minor changes will improve the overall feel of the vehicle along with some new but familiar engine options the upcoming 5-Series is sure to make a new statement.

Q: Does anyone have experience with the BMW’s 20 way power seats in the new 7 series, 5 series, and/or X5?
I’ve tried the seats in a BMW 760iL and they give so much support to the lower back, it’s soooooooooooooooooo comfortable. I’d like those seats availible in a new BMW X5. Are the 20 way seats the same as the ones in the 7 series? Anyone share th same experience with th BMW 20 way power seats?

Here’s a picture of them in the new X5:

http://www.seriouswheels.com/2007/2007-BMW-X5-Interior-Front-Seats-1280×960.htm

A: They are very similar seats. If you want the exact seats, bmw can make it happen if you have the money.
Hope that helps!

Q: Is the new Mercury Milan a good car to buy if not why?

A: ^^^^^ That is an outright lie.

the Milan is the sister car of the Fusion. I have seen, and driven the Fusion. The Fusion is NO Camry.

The biggest expense of any car is the depreciation. Nothing will depreciate a car faster than a troubled automaker. The Milan will be worth 1/2 of what you pay for it the second it drives off the lot, but it takes 3 years for the Camry to reach that level.

It’s your 20k, spend wisely.

Q: Anyone have a new Mercury Milan? Do you like it>?

A: Nope!

Q: new mercury milan commercial “let it roll”?
the song is called let it roll but who sings it?

A: It took a while to find but, the band is called “Common Sense” and it is from the album “State of the Nation”. It is available for download at amazon.

Q: What’s the name of the song in the new nov 2007 mercury milan tv commercial?

A: is that the song that goes my heart goes boom boom boom? if it is, it is called solsbury hill by peter gabriel

Q: 2010 Mercury Milan or Chevy Malibu?
I can’t decide between buying a new 2010 Mercury Milan Premier or a 2010 Chevy Malibu LTZ? What are your opinions about them, and the pros and cons? I’m eighteen if that makes any difference also. Many thanks!

A: The Milan is the same as a Ford Fusion which just won the car of the year so that means it has been rated pretty well by people who make driving cars their living. It will have the most updated styling and interior where as the Malibu is a few years old. The reliability on the Ford is probably just a little bit better but both should be available with substantial warranties so that shouldn’t make too much of a difference.

They are both good cars for sure, similar in size. The interior of the Milan should have a a little more in amenities than the Malibu but both have fairly comfy interiors. I assume both would come with a V6 and as I recall, the Ford’s V6 is a little better rated. Have you driven them both? If not, do so and then check out every other aspect of the car. Sit in the back seat for a bit to see how comfortable it is. Those sorts of things will help you make a decision.

Q: New ‘08 Nissan Sentra S…or Used ‘07 Mercury Milan?
I know these are two completely different cars…but I realized that I could get a Milan with everything and leather seats used for about the same as a new Sentra (give or take some), but I am not sure about buying used…this is my first car I’m buying on my own and I want to make the right choice…I want new, so I was set on the Sentra…but I’ve liked the Milans since they came out…just not sure what the better choice is…any insight would be helpful…thanks!

A: they are both good cars.

the sentra does kick out it’s rear end easily in spirited driving and ABS brakes are only optional $

The Milan is a very good car, but since it is used you must be sure that it has not been wrecked or abused by it former owner. What is the mileage? do they have the records of services performed? can you get the car inspected by a mechanic.?

if your sure this used car is in top shape, buy it.

if not get a new Sentra or one of it’s competitors

Hyundai Elantra
MINI Cooper
Subaru Impreza
Kia Spectra
Mitsubishi Lancer
Toyota Corolla
Honda Civic
Mazda Mazda3
Saturn Ion

a few user comments about the MM 07
A vehicle of this stature should have a locking gas cap. Slight blind spot due to roof line; however great side mirrors almost totally remove this problem area.

The turning circle. If you need to make a u turn prepare to back up.

There is really nothing to complain about for the money I paid. That being said there are a couple of things I would have liked to have. First, the fuel tank door should be locking. And secondly, I would have liked to have fog lights, it should be at least an option, if not standard, on all the V6’s, especially for those who did not want the premier because they do not want leather like me. But thats about it

Q: 2010 Mercury Milan I-4, no backup light. How come? cut corner on saving 1 bulb?
I was totally surprise that my parent new 2010 Mercury Milan has NO back up light. It only has one light bulb and it used as brake and turning signal but no “white” brake light. What a boomer.

I put that in reserve and if I do not apply the brake, it has no light at all. What a cut corner and save money nowadays.

Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks.
Tony
I mean only on the trunk but not on the other 2 sides which has the clear lens.

A: The ‘10 Milan’s have three lights per side. The red driving/brake light, the amber turn indicator, and the clear reverse indicator light.

The brake and turn indicator lights are on the main part of the vehicle, the reverse indicator lights are on the rear deck lid right next to the indicator lights (if the trunk is closed)

Edit: The ones on the trunk are the reverse indicators lights. There should be two, one on each side of the trunk.

Q: Mercury Milan vs. Chevrolet Impala?
I am planning to buy a new car. I don’t wanna buy any plastic Japanese cars. I prefer something safer. I liked the look of Mercury Milan. But I don’t see many Milan driving around or any real customer reviews. Another option would be chevrolet impala. They are about the same price and same size. But i guess chevrolet has more reputation. I’d love to see some suggestion from people. BTW, when would be a good time to buy a new car if i don’t need a car right away?

A: It depends on the features you want. I was in almost the exact same predicament… and ended up buying a Volvo. Often times, the best car for you is somewhere in between.

Q: Is a car with 2800 miles considered to be a new car?
I saw a similar question being asked about a car with a few hundred miles. This however is a different story. I am looking at a 2006 Mercury Milan with 2800 miles. The dillership owner has been driving it for awhile, but it still quallifies for 2006 Ford special financing (0% for 72 months) that only new 2006 cars are elligible for. Can depreciation on this car lower the asking price by a couple of thousands, because this is a used car now? Thank you guys!

A: It is considered a “dealer demo” which means it has not been titled & is therefore considered a NEW vehicle.

The fact that it has 2800 miles on it only means that the dealer should be able to discount it more than one that has not been driven as a demo.

You better decide quickly. Ford Motor Credit is only offering the 0% X 72 month financing on remaining 2006 models through Labor Day.

Most Ford & Mercury dealers are just about out of cars as of now, & even the demo’s are mostly gone.

Q: Why is it, that here in 2007 the new cars out there are so expensive?
I went to many different car dealership in the last couple of weeks. I looked at the toyota camry, nissan altima, ford fusion, mercury milan, honda arccord, mits galant chevy impala etc. why is that, even people with good credit, that you are looking to pay $400 a month and up for your car note? even if u put a good amount of money down. have times changed that much? i know that a couple of years ago, u could buy a brand-new car(non-luxury) and have monthly payments in the high end $200`s and $300 price range. is it because of the economy? give me some of your thoughts.

A: People are looking for more and more features on their cars. So the final sales price has been rising rapidly. A few years ago, the average price of a new car was around $20,000. Today, it’s around $28,000. That’s a 40% increase, and the cost of monthly payments will rise accordingly.

Instead of trying to negotiate from the showroom floor, think about asking the dealers for price quotes by e-mail. If you buy through the dealers’ Internet departments, you might get a better price than you would by haggling on the showroom floor. Take a look at the webpage below for details.

For more information about GMC Yukon for sale visit your top automotive resource MixedPower.com

Q: theres a 93 gmc yukon for sale with a 6″ lift. help plz?
the guy is askin 3950 for it and it has 160,000 on it and a 6 ” lift with stock rims and lil rust and wat not do u think that this is a good price or shud i talk him down on the price i personaly think its to high but i wantd to see a few opinons

A: Its a little high. It would have to be a clean ‘93 (no rust, straight body, shiny paint, clean interior, EVERYTHING works) before I would pay that for it.

You can find ‘96+ (Vortec motor) Yukons/Tahoes with that mileage on them for $5000, and they are some pretty good looking SUVs.

If you truely are in love with it, I would talk them down. With the 6″ lift, expect to replace ball joints, cv shafts and tie rods more frequently than a stock height vehicle. A picture is worth 1000 words, does it look good? I don’t know where you live, but in my area it better not have rust on it for that price.

Q: What do you think of this deal?
I saw a newspaper article and it had GMC Yukon’s for sale

I saw a 2005 GMC Yukon Denali with 98,000 Miles
of $14 990 at the local dealer because of a sale.

I also saw a 2003 Cadillac Escalade with 110,000 Miles
$13 500

about $1,500 cheaper.
but it has slightly more miles and it is 2 years older but it is a Cadillac

Anywhere’s I have got $11500 right now, I have saved up and got a nice job.
My parents said the rest they could pay
by this they meant $3500 for the GMC
or I pay $10k and they the rest for the Cadillac

or see I get a motorbike. help me get one cheaply but a good one

A: Both cars are prestige.

Get the Cadillac cause it is a Cadillac and you will have $1,500 left.
Denali is nice but Cadillac is more a luxury brand.

Q: Why do people buy cars for $ 25,000 or even $ 47,000 when in like 3 yrs later 30% to 40% of the value is gone?
Basically why do a lot of people invest $ 500 or more a month on cars when thats a bad investment. I have only ever paid cash for my cars. I have a 2003 Jaguar X Type I paid $ 11,000 for with and I have a 2004 GMC Yukon that I got on sale for $ 13,000 with 62,000 miles on it I had a trade it plus a cash down payment with only like a 2,000 balance to pay off which I have already. I am riding in style still and paid really what does cars are really worth.

A: A lot of people wouldn’t be caught dead driving a 6 year old car, especially luxury models. Makes you look like a wannabe.

Cars are worth whatever people are willing to pay for them. You only get one vote. The appeal is in the perceived value, not the actual cost. If more people thought like you, the price would come down, but they would still sell fewer cars.

Q: What are dealerships liable for?
I bought a 2007 GMC Yukon online from a Tx dealership in August. We had to have it shipped to Italy where we live and we picked it up at the port on Monday. When we went to get the truck inspected, there wasn’t an emergency brake. Someone had removed the emergency brake! I would think that this is a safety liability and the the dealership shouldn’t have been able to sell this vehicle. Was this sale legal? Who should I contact? What can I do?

A: This vehicle should have regular brakes plus a parking brake.
Ask the dealer for an explanation & compensation.

Q: buying car in different state?
i live in kentucky and i want to buy this gmc yukon in ohio will i get charged double sales tax when i buy it like get charged fsales tax for ohio and kentucky?

A: In most cases, you only pay it in your state.

Which, really is counter intuitive, when you buy something at walmart in another state, you pay sales tax where you buy it.

With cars, in most cases, you dont pay tax unless you live in that state. I sure wouldnt.

i live in santa monica btw

A: In my country where there’s discipline, a boy like you is too young to have a car. Pls excercise a li2 patience n u’l av a better one

Q: Can anyone obtain a automotive mechanical lien?
Thanks for taking the time out to help me

I have a problem that i’m seeking advice because i’m clueless about my situation
i’m a Auto body technician / mechanic I do work for a body shop however I took on
a side job away from the shop

The customer was referred to me by a friend that I have done work for in the past
The customer was involved in a front and rear end collision to his 05 Cadillac Srx Suv
basically I estimated it at $5000 that includes all parts and labor which he agreed to

after we met to see the suv and before I towed it to my shop (personal shop not licensed)
I had a Friend who is a lawyer make out a estimate / contract in the “agreement” that he would
give me position of the suv along with $2500 to cover all the parts (not labor) and that I would do
the labor for free and upon completion I would sell the Cadillac to insure my labor payment as well as split the sale 50 50 between me and the customer after his reimbursement as well as mine
(basically if the sale was $14500 we would deduct his $2500 for part and another $2500 for my labor rate) than split what was to be left

so I met with him before I took position of his suv and towed it out of there and presented him the contract he was pleased with the contract and agreed to all the terms and signed the contract as well as providing me with a print out of the title as far as the advancement went he had told me that on his next pay period he’d have the advancement so I agreed to his term penciled it in both copies of the contract and we both agreed and signed it

so I went ahead and towed it to my shop 2 weeks went by and he was out of town on business and said he’d return in a week or so well that week turned into a month so when he finally got back we met and he gave me a $1500 check for the parts and that he would owe me the rest on his next pay period so I took the check but didn’t cash it I wanted to wait for the rest of the payment before I went out and got all the parts needed for the fix

but while I was waiting for the rest of the payment I started working on the frame damage to the
radiator support frame as well as pull the quarter panel out his next pay period came and I couldn’t get in contact with him I tried e mail texts and calling so after a few weeks he contacted me and told me a family member past and he had to fly out of the country he than told me not to cash that check for $1500 instead try to sell it the way it is

so I thought to myself why not I only worked on it for 2 days and the car the way it sat was still worth over $6000 with the damage so this was an verbal agreement (over the phone) had nothing to do with the contract he signed long story short I put it in the paper as well as e bay and craigslist I found a buyer for $5500 the way it was so since I didn’t have the title only a print out so I took deposit from the buyer and informed him I would need a few days to get my hands on the title so the buyer was fine with that

so I contacted the owner / customer and told him that I found a buyer for $5500 and he was thrilled he told me he was on a business trip and he would return in a few days and as soon as he got in town he’d have the title for me in order to sell the suv

so on his scheduled return date I had called him and he said that he just got back he needs a day or so to locate it so I waited for his call he returned my call a week later and went on to say that he changed his mind and doesn’t want to waste anymore of my time as well as his and that he would have a tow truck driver come to pick up his suv so I informed him that it wouldn’t be that easy since I towed it across town and held on to the car for a lil over 3 months I had told him in order for me to release the suv to anyone I would need my towing fee and now since you voided the contract I would charge him storage fees he agreed and went on saying that he would send his own driver with the towing fee of $300 and $1000 in storage fees to claim the suv so he sent a driver down to pick it up
I met with the driver and asked him for my payment that the owner sent with him and the driver said
that he never received any money from the owner and even called the owner in front of me asking him about a check because the driver was clueless

so the driver told me that he was called from this gentlemen and and just told him to pick up his car he went on saying that he never met the owner just took his card info and went about his business
to try and get the truck so when I told him what was going on with the “agreement” he understood and told me he’d do the same

the next day I received a call from the owner and he wasn’t to pleased with what I did and he told me to keep the truck and do whatever I wanted to do with it to take is it as a present so I told him fine but I need the title if that’s the case he hung up the phone and I

A: Body work on the side is circumventing EPA laws and is illegal. You probably will have a mess on your hands if you end up in court. Just something for you to think about. The customer, oh sorry I meant consumer, (there is a difference) probably knows that and wants it in court.

There are many more consumers out there that are crooks than there are mechanics or body workers

I wish you luck

Q: Do you think it’s fair for the govt. to cite numbers they won’t let anyone else see?? (cash for clunker sales)?
It’s one thing to release the complete sales numbers for the Cash for Clunkers program and then claim people overwhelming bought “green” vehicles. But it’s another thing entirely to make that claim and then deny the Associated Press the actual numbers since July 31.

What do you think??

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090813/ap_on_bi_ge/us_clunkers_not_so_green;_ylt=Arpc9IGWR1MU3.lRoOPKYSCyFz4D;_ylu=X3oDMTJsZzI0cGtrBGFzc2V0A2FwLzIwMDkwODEzL3VzX2NsdW5rZXJzX25vdF9zb19ncmVlbgRwb3MDNQRzZWMDeW5fbW9zdF9wb3B1bGFyBHNsawNzcGlubWV0ZXIzYmk-

WASHINGTON – Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, the nation’s top car salesman in recent weeks, has cited the Obama administration’s best-seller list of mostly smaller, fuel-saving cars like the Ford Focus to describe the success of the Cash for Clunkers rebate program.

But what LaHood and other administration officials usually don’t mention is that some trucks and sport-utility vehicles that get less than 20 miles per gallon, like the Ford F-150 truck and one version of the Cadillac SRX Crossover, also are being purchased with the new government subsidies. Both are bulky vehicles weighing more than 6,000 pounds when loaded that boast at least 248 horsepower.

Just how many consumers used the federal rebates to buy these larger, not-so-green vehicles is unclear. The Obama administration has declined so far to release detailed records of purchases under the program being compiled by the Transportation Department, listing every clunker deal requesting rebates. The Associated Press requested the data July 31.

A: shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh do not question the messiah you will be reported

For more information about new Toyota Yaris visit your top automotive resource MixedPower.com

Q: Is the new Toyota Yaris a good vehicle?
I am wanting to trade in my 2002 Dodge Ram Pickup that is a gas guzler for the new Yaris. Is this a good idea?

A: I think is very expensive and the size is very small, better a Focus or a Cobalt or a Corolla or Civic. Better deals and more space.

Q: Current Yaris Drivers: I’m buying a new 2008 Toyota Yaris. What options can I not live without?
I’m purchasing a new Yaris. I’m trying to stay baseline with maybe the second options package (stereo & a few extra features) but it seems that the options seem to up the price pretty quick. What options do you have on yours that you couldn’t live without?

A: I have the 2007 Yaris sedan and I am pretty happy with my choice. I am living without power windows/locks. That was my only concession. I do have air/radio and I had the dealer install an alarm system (it was not included). When I purchased mine, the Yaris had just made its debut; so, I did not want to risk having someone else (other than Toyota) install items. Good Luck!

Q: Noise when braking my new toyota yaris on snow?
When I am braking my new Toyota yaris, its making very loud noise and I can feel the brake’s vibration (only when I drive on snow)… why is that… is it normal… pls help

A:
That is your abs system kicking in. Anti-Lock Brake System.
You will feel a vibration in the pedal but that is normal. ABS
is something you might need to get used to so it wouldn’t hurt
to take it to an large empty parking lot and test it out a few times
under heavy braking and light braking conditions. Some people have
a tendency to let off the brake a bit when this is vibrating but a steady foot pressure is necessary to make it function correctly.

Your dealerships salesman or service advisor should have explained
this to you upon pickup. And if you are not quite comfortable with
this, just stop by and let them go for a test ride to check them out
for you.

Good luck with your new car.

Q: What do you think of the new Toyota Yaris?
My parents just bought me one for my first car and it took a little getting used to. Any comments?

A: I bought a Yaris yesterday after test-driving almost seven cars over two months. I got into one last week, and I was sold without the salesperson having to do one pitch!

The Toyota Yaris is a beautiful car. At first (from a distance) I did not like the space-like new shape, but when I started to compare it to the shapes of the Mercedes A-Class and the Renault’s new shape, I could see the trend…

This car gives me endless pleasure in Cape Town’s busy streets. I drove a Kia Sportage before and wanted something smaller. I must be honest – I feel bigger in the Yaris! I absolutely love it!!! I have the Medium Silver, which is a classy colour and I also like the metalic dove-blue (not sure of the colour’s name).

The thing I like MOST about the Yaris, is all the convenient storage places for small items in the front panel. It was clearly designed by a woman, and I can now fit my mobile, my make-up, my waterbottle, my coffee mug, my CD’s, the car’s service book, a map and some sweets into separate compartments without stretching and searching.

I am checking petrol consumption still, but am expecting the best with a prediction of 12km/litre. My dogs (a huge laborador and mixed-breed) also fit into the hatchback easily when we go to the beach. This is a great car, and with 60 000 km motor service plan, it will take me far without extra costs. Your parents were wise!

Ps: I do not work for Toyota and never had one before.

Q: Want to buy a new Toyota Yaris 06 reg but has only done just over 5000 genuine miles would this be a good buy?
Sorry got the year wrong it’s an 56 plate and they want £5495 for it.

A: Providing you can establish that the mileage is genuine, contact the previous owner, and the price is right it would appear to be a good buy. Test drive it thoroughly though as it still could be a heap of junk. Buy Parker’s Guide to check the valuation or do it online.

Q: I understand that the engine on the new Toyota Yaris is designed to cut out when at idle, is this correct?
- I understand that the engine re-starts when you move off again? Exactly how does this system work and is it any good? Is it not bad for the engine to have it keep switching on and off? And what about the safety issues if you need to move off quickly?

A: My mates mini has this feature which can be turned on or off. It is basically a fuel saving idea, the engine doesnt really shut off..just goes into a sort of not on state..haha i find it really annoying, can be siting in traffic and it sounds like you stall everytime you try to move off, i think it is as sonn as you put the clutch down it restarts :]

Q: Anyone driven the new Toyota Yaris on the highway for a long distance?
I made a short test drive in town and the engine seem to whine very loudly, I did not have time to drive on the highway.

A: Im 6′1″ and I hate Japanese cars usually…but I had a Yaris wagon as a rental car in Scotland. I drove it a long way..and I was very comfortable. The model with the Automatic trans was really whiny…but the manual shift was a lot more quiet I thought. Actually thought about selling my VW Passat W8 and buying one.

Q: When is the New Toyota Yaris coming out?
I hear there’s a new model out this year. Is that right?

A: According to http://www.toyota.co.uk/cgi-bin/toyota/bv/generic_editorial.jsp?navRoot=toyota_1024_root&edname=YA4_CarChapter&catname=%2ftoyota_1024_root%2fmain_nav%2fpageTopNav%2fZone+YARIS&menuid=315329&zone=Zone+NG+Yaris&id=MSR_YARIS2009
Yes it is this year,

Q: Why would the “service required” light come on in my new Toyota Yaris?
It seems to be running fine, I just had the oil changed, it is a standard shift.

A: At 4500 miles since last reset, the Maint Reqd light will blink at you on startup (very easy to miss seeing it). At 5000 miles since last reset, the Maint Reqd light will stay on solid.

It’s just a reminder by miles that you are due for the next scheduled maintenance. It is not smart (doesn’t go by time, or do any oil analysis), just a mile counter. Usually that is an oil change/tire rotation: http://smg.toyotapartsandservice.com/

Should your dealer forget to reset it, or you go to an independent mechanic or DIY, you can reset the light yourself.

On pages 122-123 of the US 2004 Prius Owner’s Manual (Section 2-5 “Operation of Instruments and Controls: Gauges, Meters and Service Reminder Indicators”, item (j) in the “Service reminder indicators and warning buzzers” section), is a description of the Maint Reqd light and instructions for turning it off. It should be in a similar section in your Yaris’ owner’s manual.

Usually it is a button dance involving the odometer reset button.

If you no longer have your owner’s manual, you can view it online after signing up at Toyota’s owner’s site: http://www.toyotaownersonline.com/

A yellow check engine light, however, is completely different, and indicative of a fault in your car. (This light would cause your car to fail a state’s annual emissions/safety inspection, btw.) If the car is still new, it would be under warranty. Otherwise, take it to AutoZone or some other auto parts store to have the error codes read (usually for free).

Q: New Toyota Yaris or Honda Certified Civic?
For about the same price as a Honda Certified Civic, I could buy a new Yaris.

What do you think would be a good choice?

A: Yaris looks goofy but new is better than certified. Many people seem to think because certified comes with 7 year warranty that it’s better…. but are clueless that it’s 7 years from the first day it was sold! So a certified car that was first sold in 2004 only has a 4 year warranty, not 7!

Q: Can I Buy A New Toyota Yaris Sedan Online Without Dealing With My Local Dealers? If So Is It Cheaper That Way?
What Is The Cheapest Way Of Buying That Car?
I Live In The Los Angeles Area?

A: In my experience you can get a decent price but not the best price. It is a good idea to check their inventory online to see if they have what you want. Nothing compares to being in the showroom letting them know you’re ready to buy and ready to walk out the door if you don’t like the price. Go to a site like Edmunds and check the invoice price of the car equipped as you want it. You can even ask for quotes on Edmunds. After you get some quotes you can always tell them it’s not low enough; they’ll have to do $XXX better. I don’t know how much dealers are dealing in todays market but offering invoice or a couple of hundred more is a good place to start. Dealers actually make quite a bit of money selling at invoice because that is not what they actually pay for the car.

Q: I Want To Buy A New Toyota Yaris? What & How Is The Cheapest Way To Buy A New Yaris?

A: I just noticed that there is no good answer in here. So, here is another one.

Q: I bought a new Toyota Yaris 2007?
I just pruchased a new Toyota Yaris , sedan 4 doors, silver.
I am very happy with my car, but one thing bugs me. The gas gage is located in the middle of the front panel. Like, between the passenger and the driver.
In my previous car the gage was in front of my face and now the gage is far away from me and I forget to look at it. ( there is no light either, just a gage). This is like the 5th time I am awating for AAA to bring me gas (Thank god for AAA). Any ideas what I can do?
Can I install a light or an alarm that will let me know the tank is nearing empty?

Thank you!
Leviti,

Its not a joke. The gages are really far from site

Mittens

A: Sad, very sad.

I suppose you payed MSRP for the Yaris also?

Q: Is The New Toyota Yaris Sedan A Good Car To Buy?
How Much Am I Looking To Pay?
I Want The Basic Model.

A: The Toyota Yaris is not only a good car, but an excellent car.

1. The Toyota Yaris is on Consumer Reports’ 2009 Most-Reliable list.

2. The 2007 and 2008 Yaris have a CR Much-Better-Than-Average Reliability Verdict.

3. For every model year, from 2000 to 2005, the Toyota Echo, the less interiorly refined predecessor of the Yaris, earned Consumer Reports’ Much-Better-Than-Average Reliability Verdict.

4. The Echo is on AutoOnInfo.net’s 2008 list of Automobiles with Best Engine Reliability, with an Engine Reliability Rating of +1.00, on a scale of -1.00 to +1.00.

5. The Echo is on AutoOnInfo.net’s very exclusive Best-of-2001, Best-of-2002, Best-of-2003, and Best-of-2004 lists. It is No. 1 on the Best-of-2001 list. (The 2004 best list is the most recent best list composed by AutoOnInfo.net.)

6. The manual transmission version of the Toyota Yaris is on ACEEE’s 2008 greenest dozen list, number 5 with a Green Score of 46 and with an EPA estimated fuel efficiency of 29 miles per gallon in city and 36 miles per gallon on highway. The automatic transmission version is very close behind, with an EPA estimated fuel efficiency of 29 miles per gallon in city and 35 miles per gallon on highway.

Consumer Reports gives the base price of the base model of the Yaris as $12,205 (but this may be for the 2-door hatchback) in Cars: Best and Worst of ‘09.

Q: What should I name my new blue Toyota Yaris?
In my family, we have this tradition of naming our cars. I bought a Toyota Yaris hatchback today and have no idea what to call it….Any suggestions??

Names of Cars already in the family:

Ford 4×4–> Big Red
Red Toyota Corrola–> Issy
Blue Mazda Protege–> MTJ (My Grandma’s initials)
Ford Half Ton–>The Ministry
Chrysler Impala SS–> Sexy Shelia
Red Toyota Corrola–> Molly

A: How about “The Gutless Wonder” ??

Q: Whats the lowest possible price for a new Honda Fit Sport?
Hello everyone, I’m interested in a Honda Fit Sport and was wondering if someone could tell me what’s the best price I could get for it… no extras added. How much can one haggle off the price when MSRP is: $16,740… ???
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

A: right now? probably nothing. honda’s selling them as fast as they can make them b/c of gas prices. when that occurs, you’ll be lucky to find a dealer that doesn’t have some sort of unnecessary mark up they’re trying to gouge you with.

Q: how do i finance a new honda fit?
i plan on getting a new 08 honda fit sport automatic.
i am a college student with no established credit.

what are the best payment options?
what is a good apr?
how long should i pay for?
thankyou:
i was debating between putting it in my name, or my mothers (who has not so good credit).

now am i better off doing a co-sign
or just having her name on everything?

A: You being a college student should actually work to your benefit. Banks do loan money to your kind. It’s not a guarantee but you should be able to get a loan. If you have a job and can show income, that will help. You want to make sure you can afford the montly payments. A good APR today (for someone with no established credit) is anything under 7%. 6.5% would be quite good. Five year (60 month) loans are standard but if you can go with a 48 month or even 36 month, that would save you money (your monthly payments will be higher). If you have a checking and / or savings account, start with that bank. If you can get your parents to co-sign from their own bank, that would be great (keep in mind, they’ll be on the hook legally if you don’t pay).

One thing to remember – your monthly car payment isn’t the only thing you’ll be paying. You must pay for auto insurance (this may be a little high since you’re young), maintenence (this would include oil changes and the like) and gasoline (this one’s big nowadays). These charges so add up so before you purchase the car, call a few auto insurance companies to get some quotes (if you’re on your parents’ policy, no need to do this). When doing so, please remember this – they may ask for your social security number to run a credit check. This will give you an accurate quote but multiple credit checks in a short time might result in your credit score going down a few points. Since you’re buying a car this is usually OK and not something to worry too much about.

And there you have it. Enjoy the ride!
—-
To answer your second question – it depends. If your mom doesn’t have good credit, co-signing may not help. If you have her name on everything, it’ll help her credit (as long as payment are made on time) but wouldn’t do anything for you. To establish credit, you must have things in YOUR name. A fixed rate loan like a car loan is a good way to establish credit – or a great way to ruin it if you don’t pay on time

Q: Hi, Do anyone there knows when is the actual new Honda fit 2008 delivery date?
(Singapore)
Welcome any parallel car dealers in singapore to answer my question. Thank you..

A: Fit again! Many may not know how expensive is to change a Honda Fit auto gear box! It’s will cost you about S$10,000 for a original Honda gear box. And accordingly to some feedback, you need to change the gear box every 3 years! Not sure how true, but it’s definitely a pain if it;s true!

Q: Any NEW news on when Honda Fit…the Jazz elsewhere will get the CVT transmission to North America?
The Honda Fit which is known as the Honda Jazz elsewhere in the world have CVT continously variable transmissions…..and get way better fuel milage……Has anyone heard any news within the last 3-4 months if the new 2009 Honda Fits will get the CVT transmisson.

A: 2009 North American Fits will have CVT.

Q: Which is the best honda dealer in asutin texas to buy a new honda fit?

A: Try autotrader.com. best place.

Q: buying a brand new honda fit?
I am interested in the 2010 Honda Fit. If I buy it brand new how long is the warranty on the car for repairs and services and what does it cover? Do all Honda Fits have the Magic Seats that can go into the relax position when you fit in the back seats with your legs out?

A: I just got one about 2 weeks ago and I was told that the engine and transmission had a warranty for the first 60k miles and all other repairs for the first 40k miles and if I had the same problem 3 times within 6 months of the problem starting, they would replace my car with a new one.

Q: Who has seen the new 2009 Honda Fit?
Who has seen the new 2009 Honda Fit in the red color? Is it a true red or orange red?
Hey thanks for the pictures. Different from the some I have seen. I am picking up my new Fit on Friday and ordered the red without actually having anything to go by.

A: I saw one today actually. It is more red than orange you can even tell by a few pictures:
http://www.thetorquereport.com/2009_honda_fit_red.jpg

http://s3.amazonaws.com/scr/new-fit-red-1.jpg

   hope this helps

Q: mugen full body kit for new honda fit?
dose full mugen body kit affect new honda fit 1.3L fuel comsuption n pick up performence?

A: A body kit does nothing for fuel consumption and performance. It’s just a visual styling, all it does it change how the car looks.

Q: Iphone hook up in my new Honda Fit? The handbook says there is a cord in the upper glove box, but it is gone.?
There is no sign of a plug or usb connection or anything. Is this an option, how much would it cost to have it added now that I have had the car for 2 weeks.? The radio that came with the car seems to be all set to run the iPod, but no hookup.

A: Contact the dealer if you bought it new from Honda, I went on their site and from what I could see there is a usb adapter to use an iPod in the car, perhaps it was just misplaced when your car was prepped for delivery. It’s shouldn’t matter if you had the car for any amount of time, just tell them you went to use it and it wasn’t there.

Q: How much does a new Honda Fit cost?

A: They are pretty cheap. Anything less than 20k is great.

Q: Should I get a New Honda fit or Used Honda Element?
I would like to hear from Honda owners that have had experience with either vehicles. I have been a Honda owner forever, but since they last so long, it has been since 1994 since my last Honda purchase. I need a vehicle that I can haul stuff in. Example: my personal band gear, lawn mower, snow blower, christmas tree, bikes, etc… I am trying to decide between the Element and the Fit. Both can carry a lot of cargo, but my issue is… I can afford a brand new Fit but not a brand new Element. Should I buy a new Fit or a used Element?

A: For the needs you listed i would go with the used Element. I work at a Honda dealer and also from a mechanical stand point i would go with the element, it has a bigger motor and a lot more room on the interior.

Q: I need to get a car ASAP i don’t know if mine will hold until October when the new Honda fit comes out…?
So i was thinking of getting one now but doing some search i found that the new fit will have sunroof and GPS. i don’t know how much to this is true.. i even heard there is rumors that a totally redesign is coming out for the 2008… does anybody know if this is true? anybody that works for Honda?

A: For any U.S. only Honda (Civic, Accord) I would say that it’s unlikely to change in two years, but a redesigned FIT for 2008 is possible because the Fit is not brand new for U.S. It’s actually been in Europe and Asia for a few years now and just came to U.S. due to demand for smaller, fuel efficient vehicles due to “higher” gas prices.

As for GPS and sunroof, same reason as above. If a new 2008 is not out, then no GPS or sunroof. Honda won’t change the current “old” car. IF 2008 all new, then GPS and sunroof most likely on top-of-the-line model.

Q: Questions about the new Honda Fit?
I live in N.VA and have a 30 mile commute to work each day. I am looking for a dependable, economical vehicle to not just get me back and forth but also enjoy driving. Has anyone driven the Honda Fit and if so, would you recommend it? I also have 2 medium size dogs that I would like to be able to drive around with at times and liked the cargo space of the fit. All comments much appreciated!

A: Honda fit with a manual trans is fun to drive and has great fuel economy. Car & Driver did a comparision of a bunch of economy cars two issues ago, june I think. Here is the article online and you can read about all of them….

http://www.caranddriver.com/comparisons/10925/comparison-test-review-2007-dodge-caliber-se-vs-2007-honda-fit-sport-vs-2006-hyundai-accent-gls-vs-2006-kia-rio5-sx-vs-2007-nissan-versa-18sl-vs-2006-suzuki-reno-vs-2007-toyota-yaris-s.html

It is a good choice & I hope you enjoy it.

Q: Is the new 2009 Honda Fit a good car?
My boy friend and I are car shopping and we were looking at the Honda fit. Is it a good car? Does it get good gas mileage? How about safety? And is it really fun to drive? If you went to a car dealership, what is the most you would pay – monthly and car price and down payment for the Honda fit? Maximum! What would you pay? What would you NOT go over?
And is it really fun to drive? If you went to a car dealership, what is the most you would pay – monthly and car price and down payment for the Honda fit? Maximum! What would you pay? What would you NOT go over?

Please answer this also!

A: Yes it is ok. Would buy an Accord if I got a Honda.

Q: When will the Honda Fit be available in New Orleans?
The Honda Fit is set to be released sometime in April in the U.S., but I heard that some cities recieve them before others. When will New Orleans have the Honda Fit?

A: Check out this website:

http://automobiles.honda.com/fit/events.aspx

It doesn’t look like New Orleans will get it early.

Q: How was the new E-Class changed?
I own an ‘04 Mercedes E320, and when I heard it was changed, I flew out to the nearby Benz dealership to see for myself. To be honest, I was fairly dissapointed. Just like other “restyled” cars, the E-Class was not that “edgy and sleek” as people had been saying. It’s still the same thing. Why is Mercedes Benz, being such a prestigeous company, stepping down so far to let marketing lie about their products?

A: Okay well first of all they haven’t lied about anything. The new E-Class come with a new engine thats more fuel efficient and has more horsepower that’s why its called the E-350. The front of the car is more pointed in shape. The headlamps ,tail lamps and interior are slightly different. All quality problems have been resolved. And its just a refreshment and updating of the line. As you see Mercedes has been bashed about the quality of their cars especially the E-class. Don’t worry though I suggest wait till the total redesign of the car.

Q: Lexus vs. Mercedes-Benz vs. Audi?
Hi, I’m buying a new car soon and these are my top picks: Lexus GS, Mercedes-Benz E-Class (The new one coming out), and the Audi A6. The Lexus is my favorite and the Audi is my least favorite. But the Merc is the newest one that is soon to come out. And my old man HATES Lexus but likes Toyota. lol. He says Lexus is a girls car. What do you guys think? If you have had any expierence with these brands or specific cars, then please tell me your good or bad expierence.

A: I like Lexus the most too and Audi the least. Your old man is weird lol I would take the GS. But it’s 100% my personal preference and others (even Lexus fans) may not agree with me. I would take the hybrid – GS450h. The GS is not actually my favorite Lexus. The LX and RX are. Just so you know.

Q: What is your opinion on the new Mercedes-Benz?
The 2010 E-Class. Do any of you like it.

Here is a link below if you haven’t seen it yet:

A: damn ! I THINK IT’S A GREAT CAR., EVEN BETTER WITH THE AMG PACK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Q: I crashed my dad’s brand new Mercedes-Benz E320 BlueTec diesel into a bike rack?
My dad let me borrow (I’m 16) his 1-month old Mercedes E-class to take this girl out on a dinner date because my Toyota wouldn’t start and on my way taking her home I got distracted and drove up a curb into a bike rack. While it isn’t totaled the paint on the front bumper is scraped pretty bad and is a little indented, but it mostly popped back into place, but the chrome grill is indented in to the point of needing replacement. I know I’m busted no matter what, but I’m sooo fucking freaking out! It’s a $60,000 Mercedes!FUCK!!! WHAT AM I GOING TO DO!?!?!?!

A: tell ur dad the truth!

Q: BMW 525 Touring or Mecedes Benz E-Class Estate or Jaguar X-Type Estate or Audi S4 Avant – Which would you buy?
Considering:
Reliability
Fuel Economy
Running Cost
Value for money
Depreciation

http://www.jaguar.co.uk/uk/en/x-type/build/buildyourown.htm

http://www.audi.co.uk/audi/uk/en2.html

A: BMW 525 for me.

Audi is slightly more fuel efficient but in most other respects, the BMW wins.

However I think the Benz has a better resale value.

Q: Mercedes Benz, how far has the crown slipped?
Will the new E class revive Mercedes fortunes and will they ever retain their past reputation for quality and reliability,or has the damage been done?

A: I think the days of the bomb-proof over engineered Mercs like the W124 series are gone forever, the company accountants saw to that. The new ones are getting back to what people expect from Mercedes, but the painful memories of the rusty late 90s E class will haunt them for a long time.

Q: Drive a Mercedes Benz and are short?
I wanted to find out if anyone who is short drives a mercedes, and if so, what class? I’m interested in the new E-class but what told that wouldn’t be a good fit for me (5′2″)

A: I drive a ML 350 my hubby drives a E350.

I’m 5ft. The E350 was fine for me to drive except when I was 8 month pregnant.

Q: marcedes E-class headlight problem?
i have a mercedes benz 2004 e-class and i have a problem with the headlight, i went to a near by garage that specielises in german and Swedish cars. they said to me that its the headlight control unit but i dont trust them because they said it was the balace which they replaced with a brand new one and didn’t do anything know the say its the control unit. anyone help me

A: If this shop is guessing at parts and replacing them on your dime — i think you mean they replaced the ballast — then you should take your car elsewhere. Xenon headlamps are controlled and operated by very expensive parts and you should take it to a qualified independent (they’re out there if you look or ask around) with the proper diagnostic tools or the dealer.

Q: do not know which car to get mercedes or audi?
now i like the a5 however i do not like the rear windows i dont like the way they are cut. i love the rear led tail lights and the front led lights…
i think for a design the audi tt is awesome =) i love the whole design i just dont like the console as much as the audi a5 and i dont like the fact that it is a 2 seater. there are back seats but it only looks like midgets could fit in the back.
i love the new e class mercedes benz coupe!! my bf has the clk … but the e coupe there is no comparison but its rear wheel drive and i need 4 wheel drive for the snow or at least front wheel but of course germans do not make front wheel… so help me choose between mercedes e class coupe audi tt and the audi a5

http://www.audipic.com/audi/2009/08/Audi_A5_Senner.JPG

http://www.autofans.us/images/Mercedes-Benz/2010%20Mercedes%20E-Class%20Coupe%20Spy%20Photo.jpg

A: AUDI is the right choice. They are more fuel efficient, higher technology, lower in price, and ALWAYS grip the road. They sometimes seem to defy the laws of physics! There are more Audi parts around, should you need them (after the warranty.) If you buy the Benz, make sure it has the 4 wheel drive option. I know of more people who have trouble with their Benzes when they are older, than people who own and love their Audi’s., Audi pretty much wrote the book on all wheel drive systems, and have a definite advantage. Audi diesel cars are killing them in the euro races. Good luck!!

Q: newer model Mercedes benz?
Do anyone dislike the new Mercedes models?

The new c-class interior and exterior both look like Chrysler made MB change their styling a bit…the old 97-00 e-class was well built and put together but all of today’s Mercedes cars has that Chrysler look. They even took away the bubble headlights ..omg and the suvs all look like jeeps.
the
*GL-class is similar to the Jeep commander
*m-class is similar to Saturn vue
*r-class is similar to the Chrysler pacifica
* Sprinter van is similar to the dodge sprinter
*Slk is similar to the Chrysler crossfire!
Even the c-class hatchback coupe comes with carpet seating…and the GL-class suv comes with the plastic trimming around the edges (like toyota uses on their cheaper version suv’s)
Mercedes benz gl-class do put u in the mind of the jeep commander….from the dash board…those air vents box shape…etc

A: I’m gonna have to say I disagree with all of your similarities up there. The GL is way less boxy and hideous than a Commander. The M class looks nothing like a Vue…at all. You might as well say a Lamborghini looks like a Camry if you’re going to compare apples to oranges like that. The R is similar to the Pacifica in the way that they are both a weird combination of van, wagon, and sport/ute, but the similarities end there. The Sprinter is actually just a Mercedes-Benz van rebadged as a Dodge. In Europe, that same van wears a three-pointed star on it’s grille. The SLK and the Crossfire are similar? How? The SLK is very sleek and rounded while the Crossfire looks like a retro-chunky-heist-car type of thing.
Also, the C hatch comes with fabric seats because it’s their entry level vehicle. In other parts of the country, even high end Mercedes can be bought with fabric seats and fairly basic features. In the USA, we typically only get loaded-up models.
Since the GL is an off-roader, the plastic helps from getting scratched-up, ugly looking paint if you desire to venture onto rough terrain…considering that’s what SUVs are supposed to be for anyway.
I will agree that their new interiors are a big Chrysler-ish. They look pretty ugly (especially the new GLK’s interior). Totally not Mercedes worthy.

Q: Mercedes-Benz question?
well my mom wants to get me a mercedes for my first car but she wont buy me the new C class just the older ones. anyways

we were looking at a 2005 Mercedes-Benz C320 SEDAN
and we both wanted to know if it was a bigger car than maybe a 2005 Mercedes-Benz C300 or a C240
because i don’t want it to be as long as like the Mercedes E class
but i don’t want it to be like itty bitty
annnddd. just because its a Sedan does that mean its bigger?

A: The exterior dimensions of each vehicle is the same. The main difference between the 3 is the engine size. There are smaller differences as well such as more standard equipment on the 320.

Q: Does the new E-coupe have Blind Spot Assist?
I’ve seen Mercedes-Benz specification sheet, and it doesn’t say anything about Blind Spot Assist. However,I found web sites that say the E-coupe does have Blind Spot monitoring. It would make sense, because E-coupe is a coupe version of E-class which has Blind Spot assist.

A: The cheapest way is to replace the mirror glass with the German-spec mirror. That has a line on the outer one-third and beyond that line is a wide angle mirror. But if you want, you can get the blind spot assist in the coupe, at least in the U.S.

Q: What do you suggest that the wealthy purchase with their welfare?
Sometime between now and December 31, Congress will vote to extend the Bush tax cuts for the rich, or Obama tax cuts for the middle class. In the case of the Bush tax cuts, this money will go to the high and mighty. The top 1% of taxpayers — people with more than $1.3 million a year — will receive an average of $83,347 in tax breaks.

Here are some possibilities of what those masters of the universe can buy, with their new government welfare:

- A brand-new Mercedes Benz E-Class car, $83,000. Every single year. And each year, they can give the “old” one to a spouse, a girlfriend, whoever.

- A Hermes “Birkin” handbag, $64,800. (Actually, though, if you need to know how much it costs, then you can’t afford it.)

- Chateau d’Yquem wine from 1787, $56,588. That will leave each one with around $25,000 of loose change in their pockets. Enough for a nice lunch, maybe.

- 20,000 jars of Grey Poupon. So when people ask, “excuse me, sir, but do you have any Grey Poupon,” the answer is “Yes!”

- 800 luxury cigars. One for the morning, and one for the evening, every single day. But how will they light them? Each one, with a $100 bill. That costs only $73,000 a year. Ah.

Thank you, Congress. You’re letting the rich in this country enjoy two cigars a day, each lit by a $100 bill.

Now I have a question for you. What do you suggest that the wealthy purchase with their Welfare? What new toys for the idle rich? A Mercedes? A Hermes bag? Cigars? They need your ideas, because they will all have so much more of our money.

A: Obviously you have your tongue firmly in your cheek … but I get your point. And it doesn’t matter what the rich would spend their windfall tax cut on. The issue is whether extending the temporary tax cut for the top 1-2% of taxpayers makes any sense … and clearly it doesn’t. It’s yet another Republican gift to the rich. The sooner Americans realize there is going to be long term pain involved in paying for the errors of the last decade or so, and begin to take remedial steps, the less pain there will be overall. And, unavoidably, tax increases are part of the pain.

Reasons tax cuts should not be extended at all:
- the fact the Bush tax cuts were always intended to be temporary,
- the fact there is no evidence to believe the tax cuts led to job creation (as promised) and there is no logical reason to expect a continuation of the tax breaks for the wealthy will lead to job growth in the future
- the size of the deficit and national debt require expenditure reduction AND tax increases.

Reasons not to increase taxes NOW:
- the fragile economic recovery — which depends on the middle class — would be compromised, and
- there is (much argument among economists on this) evidence that cutting expenditures too soon may also delay the economic recovery.

Considering all these factors together and one can conclude this is not the time to cut expenditures or raise taxes on the poor or middle class. However, there is no rationale for extending the temporary tax cuts for the wealthy. None. Nada.

Q: Welfare fraud? how can you report it?
I’m really pissed off at this, yesterday I saw a Russian woman in her early 20’s in the supermarket line ahead of me, She had 2 kids on a buggy and 2 toddlers. I swear she had about a dozen bags of potato chips, cookies and about 6 bottles of 2 liter sodas. What ticked me off is that she paid with a welfare (public assistance card)!!! I mad dogged her, I paid for my stuff and was walking out, by chance we were parked on the same aisle and I saw her drive away in a brand new Mercedes Benz E-class sedan with paper dealer plates.

I’m pissed off because I drive a 2002 POS car, I have worked since I was 18 and have never taken welfare. I’m struggling to pay my bills and due to this economy I am furloughed every friday at my company!

How can you report this? I mean, getting all junk food and driving such car? I’m livid!
***Added detail***

Answerer #1, I’m actually a registered Democrat and not a right winger.

Answerer Pat, why are you accusing me of lying? should I have taken picture(s) just for you?

I know some of you said there are no laws about buying junk food, but if its welfare those purchases should be banned! I’d like a law that puts that clause. Buy only essential food. About the car, if you drive that, you really don’t need to be living off OUR dime. It *may* have been borrowed, maybe 10% out of a 100% chance. I didn’t ask her if it was hers.

A: I actually believe you, I am not republican and I see it all of the time. Worse they will be doing the shopping with their significant other…who I am sure welfare does not know lives in the same house(my neighbors) and works under the table(more tax free money for them)

If you have a name or address you can report it, but if you don’t have any identifying information…Besides buying chips and soda is not against their rules, I don’t think.

Q: Mecedes benz -Car remote?
My dad owns a 1992 mercedes benz e-class (e200) and has automatic doors ,windows and my dad thinks of installing a car remote to lock and unlock the doors , the car has a pump already under the seat. So we found a used mercedes benz which is of a newer model but already has a remote , and my dad thinks he wants to take the remote of the newer model and install it.so is it possibleto take the remote of the other car and put it in our car .What are the parts we should consider into fixing and will it work or not?
Or should i only take the car remote motor and the remote and fix it in our car.

A: The problem is that the W124 chassis E-Class (86-95) was never designed by the factory to have a remote control central locking system. There are aftermarket system that can be installed but I’m not aware of any Benz components that can be swapped over from another model and be made to work on the W124 chassis.

Q: What kind of SUV should I get?A new ford edge or a used toyota highlander? And why?

A: I have inspected over 1,000 cars and truck and the Toyota is the least of all cars and trucks I inspect for customers on a daily bases, The Ford is the most common vehicle I inspect for Lemon Law attorney firms. The Toyota is much more reliable not because I have one with 178,878 miles and it has never been in the shop for anything other than a O2 sensor. Stay away from Ford I think they are having quality control problems. Good Luck and God Bless

Q: Used Toyota Highlander formally owned by car rental place?
I saw a 2007 Highlander Sport used for $21,500. Seems like a good deal with only 27,000 miles on it. The ad had photos of the car’s interior and exterior. Looks like new. The ad also incuded a link to the carfax report and the car has never been in any accidents or any other issues. However, the car was owned for 1 year and 1 month by a car rental place in New York . It was auctioned and sold to a Toyota Certified New and Used Car dealership here in Georgia. My coworker says I might want to do more research since that is too good of a deal and it was own at a Car rental place in New York for only one year. What do you think?

A: Car rentals keep there vehicles in good shape and turn them over because the resale value goes down very quick after a year so they make the most back selling the vehicle within a year of having the vehicle. I don’t know about the price for this vehicle but if compare to other 07’s it is a good price then go for it.

Q: Where can I find cigar lighter for 2006 toyota highlander – purchased used vehicle no cigar lighter,?
purchased used 2006 highlander no cigar lighter or is there a cover to just cover the space where ligher inserts concerned my grand kids may stick finger in open space where ligher is to be.

A: The 12v accessory outlet originally came with just a mock lighter cover. It is easy to misplace it. (A cigarette lighter is usually in a “smoker’s package.”)

Ask the parts counter at your Toyota dealership if you want the OE lighter or cover. About $10.

If you want a cigarette lighter, perhaps the easiest method would be to go to a junkyard/scrapyard, and buy a used lighter from them. it doesn’t even have to work (heat up), and pretty much any cigarette lighter will work (not manufacturer dependent). But I think that a cover would be safer than having a working lighter if you have kids to worry about…

Q: Should I buy a used Toyota Highlander 2004 with 46,000miles?
I don’t know about cars….help

A: yes especially if it looks good those cars if taken care of can go two hundred thousand miles…

Q: I need a source for used Toyota 4Runner and Highlander parts?
Not engines, but smaller bits and pieces, etc.

A: You will have to go to the dealer since Toyotas last forever and are never found in junkyards.

www.taprecycling.com must be a scam site since an all Toyota junkyard isn’t possible with Toyoduhs lasting forever………..

Q: What website can I use to compare used Honda CR-V, Toyota Highlander, Subaru Forester, & Mitsubishi Outlander?
In your opinion, which of these models (for the 2003 year) is the overall best buy?

A: Best: Highlander
Best value: CR-V

Highlander will cost you the most money. They hold their value the best of the four because it’s basically a stripped down Lexus RX330.

Q: Where do I find the fcc id # on a 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited? I do not have a remote.?
I just purchased a used 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited and it did not come with the keyless entry remote. Where can I find the FCC ID # so I can order a new one?

A: check your owners manual the FCC ID should be MOZRI-20BTY

Q: Which to used SUV to buy? Toyota Highlander or Honda Pilot?
I’m looking at 2003’s. Which SUV do most people prefer? They’re quite similar, both are very reliable.

A: Highlander

Q: Better used car to get for your money: Toyota Highlander ‘07 or ‘08, or Honda CRV?
I would like more room, good quality car? I am thinking of a new Honda CRV, but I’d like a 6 cylinder car.

A: Well I believe the CRV is going to get better gas mileage so that is certainly something to consider. However if you have plenty of disposable income, go for the Highlander if space is something very important to you.

Q: Toyota Highlander 2002?
I am looking at a used Toyota Highlander 2002. How do you like yours? Safety rating? Gas mileage? Thanks so much! Any info is appreciated (:

A: Forget it, this vehicle has been recalled TWICE.

Q: What can I expect to pay to register my newly purchased used vehicle in Oklahoma?
About 3 weeks ago I bought a 2003 used Toyota Highlander in OK. It will be the first year it is registered in this state (91.00 fee). How do I figure out the Excise tax and other fees like title transfer and tag fees?

A: call the tag agency with your vin number they will tell you how much it will be

Q: 2006 toyota highlander seat heater?
I recently bought a used 2006 Toyota Highlander that has the optional heated seats. The seats get much less warm than my wife’s 2005 camry with the same option. Also less warm than a Dodge suv I am familiar with. Any one have any experience with a 2006 Highlander? Just wondering if mine is normal or faulty. Thanks.

A: Our oldest son owns a BMW X5 with heated seats and I have friends & coworkers who own Toyota Avalons and Volvos with the same feature. We bought a 2005 Toyota Highander 6 cylinder AWD from brand new that now has 50,000 miles. In view that it is well past its 3 year/36,000 mile warranty and putting up with winter and cold freezing temperatures is not as long as the summer months when airconditioning is a necessity, personally just the fact that you already purchased the 2006 Highlander before discovering something might be wrong, well I would not waste my money to have it corrected bec most likely the genuine Toyota part and labor would be $200 to $500.

By the way, if you have the skills to troubleshoot & possibly correct the faulty part yourself, then the best places to purchase genuine Toyota parts are 2 dealers in Texas: Toyota of Dallas and Toyota of Richardson TX. Both have on-line sites and their internet prices are about 30% off of MSRP plus UPS S&H.

Hope the Above Info Helps!

Q: Which Toyota cars are being recalled for faulty breaks? Is the Highlander (used or 2-3 yrs old) one?
Bob, for your information, it was NOT only the Prius. Many Corollas and Camrys are also on the list. Do you not read correctly?
Guys, not all Toyotas are affected. I just did a research and the only Highlanders affected are the 2010’s. Thanks for your answers.

A: ????????????????????????????????????????????????

DO YOU NOT PAY ATTENTION to the world….

ONLY THE PRIUS…..why Highlander????

?????????????????????????????????????????????????

Q: 2005 Toyota Highlander V-6… 91 octane?
My father is in the final stages of purchasing a used 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited V-6.
The paper work is signed, just waiting for the banking to go through tomorrow, and the answer to my question wouldn’t effect the final decision anyways, but we were just curious.

After test driving 3 Highlanders, and researching them online, we had just assumed it ran on regular unleaded gasoline. But tonight as I was reading a review from Motor Trend, it says that the V-6 models require 91 octane gasoline. This is the only source I can find claiming that it runs on 91 octane. I have searched numerous sources online trying to confirm or deny this, but I havent found anything else. So I am not too lazy to do an internet search, I have tried and still dont have an answer.
We will obviously find out tomorrow by looking in the owners manual, but I was curious if anyone could confirm this tonight.

So… Does the 05 Highlander with the V-6 engine require 91 octane fuel??

Also, if anyone reading this owns, or has owned, this generation Highlander, any feedback about the vehicle, positive or negative, any interesting facts, or things to watch out for would be helpful.
Thanks again.
So, now I have found another source saying that Toyota recommends 91 octane, but it is capable of running on 87???

A: Toyota recommends 87 octane for the ‘05 Highlander. Some versions of that V6 do recommend Premium, but the Highlander is tuned for 87 octane.

Q: ‘05 Toyota Highlander Snow Tires?
My father just bought a used 2005 Toyota Highlander Limited V-6.
He is interested in buying a set of snow tires for it, but there seems to be a discrepensy about tire size.
The tires currently on the vehicle are 225/65R17, which is what is recommended in the owner’s manual.
But, a quick check on www.tirerack.com which in my opinion is a very reputable company, only offers 3 snow tires for this size. But on that site, when you type in the year make and model of the vehicle, it shows 2 tire sizes for the 17″ wheels. The 1st is what they call the “recommended” size, which is 235/65 R17. And the second size they call the “alternate” size which is the 225/65 R17 which is what the owner’s manual recommends.
I am wondering why tirerack would have the size found in the owner’s manual as the “alternate” size.

I am also wondering if the 235/65 R17 would work on these wheels, since that size is not listed in the owner’s manual.

Also, when I clicked on a set of General Altimax Arctic snow tires in the 235 size, a tire load warning screen popped up. It said this tire has a higher load rating than the O.E.M tires. This may result in a harsher ride that may be undesirable to customers…. Does this warning have anything to do with it not being the same size as the manufacturer recommends? Or is this totally unrelated??

Normally we would just stick to the tire size recommended by Toyota, but the choices are very limited in that size (the cheapest snow tire I found was $130 each!!) We would like to run the other size and get a more affordable, but still nice quality tire (we are not looking to get the cheapest ones out there, but also dont want absolutely most expensive ones either). But not if they dont fit, or will have any sort of negative outcome.

Thanks to anyone who answers any part of this long, drawn out question… Sorry its so long, just wanted to get as much info in as possible.

A: just enter in 224/65/r17 instead of entering in toyota highlander. i would go with toyota’s recomendation, afterall, they built the car.

Q: How often must the battery be changed on a new Lexus RX 450 hybrid?

A: The battery is made to last the life of the vehicle.

It should never have to be changed and comes with a 10 year, 150K mile warranty in an emissions state and an 8 year, 100K warranty everywhere else.

Q: What do you all think about the new LEXUS RX hybrid? How is it working for you?

A: I have had mine for just under 2 weeks. My 3rd Lexus RX. I was avg 16.5 mpg in town driving in my 2004 RX330. I am now avg 26.5 (but only finished 1 and 1/4 tanks of gas so far.

Had read articles saying you won’t save $$ by paying this kind of money for a hybrid. On a lease, it was a better deal than the gas car (due to higher residual value at the end of the lease). I can still use regular gas, and I’m told to expect 100,000 miles before I need to replace the brakes.

It is quiet and a very smooth ride. I love the car and with the price of gas this week I think we made a good choice. However, I really hated to give my my Bambo Pearl RX330. Lease was up and we dediced not to buy it out…but if you are interested in a perfect vehicle, go to Lexus of Westport CT and ask for Tom Ballou…he can sell you my old one if I haven’t convinced you to get the Hybrid.

Q: Does anyone know the song in the TV commercial for the new Lexus RX 350 Pebble Beach Collection?
The commercial shows an island with a tree on it, and the background changes until the setting for the island is complete, showing how beauty is achieved when the right combination of elements come together. It premiered on March 2nd.

Thanks!

A: I don’t believe it’s an actual established song. It’s most likely just a commercial tune that they wrote specifically for that commercial.

Q: what is the best pick, Brand new Honda CRV 2W EXL w/navi or 2nd hand Lexus RX 350?
brand new of Lexus RX 350 is way too much for my budget. pls answer with the best reasonings. thanks.

A: Both the Honda CR-V and the Lexus RX Series rank highest in initial quality at the segment level after the first 3 months of ownership. Both also rank among the top 3 at the segment level in our company’s Vehicle Dependability Study, which is based on vehicle owners’ evaluations of their vehicles after the first 3 years of ownership (2004 models). In addition, both were 2 of the first car-based SUVs called crossovers, which means they offer carlike ride with utility features and functions.

The CR-V is a compact crossover and averages 22.3 mpg, according to actual owner reported fuel economy findings, while the RX Series is a compact premium crossover and averages 20.1 mpg in real world findings, according to our company’s JDPower.com consumer site. The third-generation CR-V was redesigned for 2007. A new CR-V retails between $20,700 and $28.400, while the entry premium The 2009 Lexus RX Series has a much higher sticker—new—from $37,500 to $39,100. Quality and luxury will abound in the RX Series, while the CR-V will be efficient and less high end. If you want to be pampered, the RX Series will give you more features and extras. The RX Series is comfortable and roomy enough for 5 people.

Each model has its own unique features and specs. We looked up a few price estimates for a 2005 RX Series vehicle and found that depending on what region you live in, you will find some models in the same price range as the new CR-V—just under $28,000. We suggest that you test both models—a new CR-V and a pre-owned or used RX Series to make your own choice. For more information and driving reviews as well as quality ratings, photos, videos and articles, please visit JDPower.com.

Q: What do you think of the new 2010 Lexus RX?
I really like it and I’m thinking about buying one. I just wanted to see if any of you have purchased one and if so, do you like it, whats better about it compared to the second generation RX? Let me know what you think about it.

Thanks!!!

A: ITS GREAT, I JUST BOUGHT ONE. A LOT MORE SPORTIER.

I was considering the x5 but after I drove the RX, it didnt even compare. SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much nicer and user friendly…smooth too. I got a great deal..If you want to buy one let me know and I will tell you where to buy it for the best price guaranteed.

Q: Buying new Lexus Rx 350.?
We’re looking to buy a new Lexus Rx 350 in the GTA. Basically we’re looking for these 3 deals: If they meet we’ll buy it, if not, then we’ll wait. Anyways. We’re going to call some dealers tomorrow, but before that, do you think this is somewhat achievable? 1.) Trade in our 2001 dodge caravan for 2-2.5k cash. 2.) 0 % financing. 3.) 10% off. Thank you.

A: You should also consider that such a car may be expensive to insure. Check your insurance rates before buying one, for example here – carinsurance.yoll.net

Q: Does anybody know what this track is called on the new lexus rx commercial?
Here is the link on you tube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mwm5MSlInHQ

A: The music was created/produced at HUM Music specifically for these commercials. Studio/session musicians were utilized. Each music track has different composers. The music is not commercially available.

Q: Does anyone know the date when the new future Lexus Rx will come out?
Please list additional information

A: The 2009’s come out this month in the current body .Late 2009 as a 2010 Model for the new body

Q: Anyone know the music to the new running Lexus RX 350 Commercial? Thanks.?
The new one aired during the Olympics….

A: The music was composed by DJ Pinch & James Ginzberg of The Bodysnatchers for Tonic.

Q: When is the best time and where to buy a new 2008 lexus RX? I’m living in TX. Can I get it less then $40000?

A: Actually, I have a relative who is a general manager for Lexus. The best times to buy Lexuses are August and Christmas. This seems to be when the company has the most favorable factory incentives.

Q: Which is better, the Lexus RX 350 or the new Acura MDX?
I am trying to decide between the two cars.

A: Utility
There’s no obvious winner between the Lexus and the MDX in terms of transporting cargo. Drivers with frequent child-duty might favor the Acura over the Lexus RX 350. Towing is markedly more the Acura MDX’s forte than it is the Lexus RX 350’s.

Dimensions
The Acura MDX is a little heavier than the Lexus. The Lexus RX 350’s tank is roughly the same size as the Acura’s, though the Acura MDX’s is a tad bigger. The Lexus RX 350 and the MDX compete for the same parking spaces.

Convenience
You’ll most definitely take the Acura MDX for a fill-up roughly as often as the Lexus RX 350.

Cost
The destination charge is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle from its point of origin to the dealer. It costs roughly the same to get the Acura MDX to the dealership as the Lexus RX 350. The Acura MDX doesn’t pale in comparison to the RX 350 regarding fuel economy. There isn’t much of a difference in gas mileage here, but if you must know, the Lexus RX 350 is a tad more economical than the Acura MDX. With respect to MSRP, the Acura costs approximately as much as the Lexus (though the Lexus is a bit cheaper). The Acura isn’t much less costly than the Lexus as far as final cost.

Handling
The MDX and the RX 350 have roughly similar tires. With their comparable turning circles, the Lexus RX 350 and the Acura MDX indubitably handle about the same into and out of tight spots.

Drivetrain
The Acura MDX has no lessons to learn as far as torque from the Lexus RX 350.

Comfort
While the front cabin in the Lexus offers a bit more head room than the Acura MDX, there honestly isn’t much of a difference. While the rear of the Acura MDX offers a bit more head- and leg-room than the Lexus RX 350, there really isn’t much of a difference.

Overview
The Lexus RX 350 and the Acura MDX have the same basic after-sale protection.

Q: I want to buy a Lexus Rx from 2006 to 2009.Should I buy it used or new?
Hello,

I have been thinking of buying a Lexus Rx.I make a six figure salary a year ($120,000) also I’m single,I have about $94,000 in my savings.

I found a 2007 used Lexus Rx that cost $29,495.It has 41,875 miles on it.Is it better to buy it used or new?

A: Since you are asking in the finance section I assume you are asking is it better to buy new or used financially.

No question buy it used.

by the way based on a quick search if this is a Rx 350 I would not pay more than 25000 for a car you consider in perfect condition.

if it is a 400h then that price is not a bad place to start, again for a perfect car.

Q: Lexus is coming out with a new body style RX does this mean the used 04-09 body styles drop in used car market
Because i own a 1999 lexus rx300 and wanted to buy another one, but prices are still kind of high. So i figured i would wait till the new body style came out then go and search for a 04-09 body style because they might be cheaper.

A: good thinking….they will for sure go down in price…although at first they wont go down as much as you think

Q: Is there a new Rx model from Lexus coming up for 2009?

A: lexus did announce plans to redesign the RX as the current design has been around for five years. it should have larger dimensions (to accomodate third-row seat), toned-down styling, and will offer both an optional v8 and a stretched trim line model as does the ls460 sedan. a more advanced hybrid version should carry over.

Q: I am thinking of buying a new car in “07 please tell me about the Lexus RX 400h?
Are Hybrid living up to the hype? What about maintainance on these cars? Are repairs costly and are mechanical technicians knowledgeable of servicing these cars?
Ryan Your answer is great!!! thank you
I was trying to give you the thumbs up but i guess I clicked the wrong thumb
I am sorry .. YOUR answer deserves a big thumbs up rating
I would really like to purchase an SUV style car for the winters here in St Louis but also need the fuel economy as I drive a good distance from my home to where I work. I also do a lot of travel related to my work.
I have researched on edmonds o2007 Lexus RX 400h
o2007 Mercury Mariner Hybrid
o2007 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
o2007 Saturn VUE
o2007 Ford Escape Hybrid
but I must admit ( and it has nothing to do with being female) I am not as intelligent about cars as I would like to be.

A: In short, it depends on what your priorities are.

Hybrid live up to the hype, in terms of the reduction in emissions gasses, yes, however most of them rarely deliver the promised fuel mileage, though they do better than their non-hybrid counterparts.

The Lexus RX400h is essentially a hybrid which is biased towards performance. It’s good choice if you are looking for something with a bit of a “Gee whiz” factor as it’s very cutting-edge technology thats fun to discuss around the water cooler at work. It’s a good choice if you want a luxury vehicle but want to do a little something for the environment and/or get to drive in the carpool/HOV lane by yourself (depending on where you live)

It’s NOT a good choice if you want a hybrid because you imagine the fuel savings will pay for the difference or if you think you are going to get amazing gas mileage and save the planet. It won’t save you money over the regular RX model.

Hybrid technology has been around for nearly 10 years now and Toyota/Lexus is at the head of the pack. It’s been proven reliable for the most part so there are no worries there. Maintainance for the first 5-6 years should be virtually no different than a regular car and Lexus technicians are trained to work on these vehicles.

Now, if you are still driving it in 10 years and you need the hybrid batteries replaced or your ECU reflashed and you have some mechanic named Bubba at a garage in the middle of nowhere in the Arizona desert are you screwed? Yes. But ask yourself how likely that scenario is.

Odd are, if you are in the market for a vehicle in this price range, you won’t be driving it by the time it needs the batteries replaced or needs any expensive maintainance for the hybrid system. By then it will be someone elses problem and you will be driving a newer hybrid Lexus burning 100% ethanol or something.

Q: how much more would it cost to get a new toyota prius custom painted?
well i went on toyota.com to look at the new prius and the solor options are really dull so i want to know for one would i have to pay more for a color i want and how nuch more would that be?

A: It will cost about 5 grand.

If you are planning to buy a Prius to save money though then forget it since it doesn’t even make the top ten list of cheapest cars to operate over a 3 year time period. Proof here: http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/autos_content_landing_pages/1442/cheap-dates-the-10-least-expensive-cars-to-own/

Q: Just how good is the new 2010 Toyota Prius? And is it out yet like in the dealerships?
Dad is going to buy the new Toyota Prius that I recommended him because he likes Japanese cars and quietness and comfort. Prius owners, please tell me about your experience with this prized car that gets 50mpg.

A: I have a 2005 Prius and I love it. It is fun to drive and gets me about 45 mph (which is why I bought it). I am a big beautiful woman and I fit very comfortably as does my 6′6″ man friend! I also often carry a child in the backseat in a car seat and he never complains! There are so many extras but the 2010 is just mind blowing w all the extras! I want one! They are available in the dealerships now (as an owner I get updates and just got one 2 days ago that they are available at my dealership).
You can purchase the package that has this cool sensor and steering combo that can practically parallel park itself! I can haul stuff w the seats down in back or I can cover what I am carrying w the shade in back.
It is very, very quiet…lol…once I left the car on for 6 hours while I did something else. I had forgotten to lock it and hadn’t turned it off because I didn’t hear it running! It didn’t use any gas during that time and the battery wasn’t drained either! It has a mechanism built in to the auto-lock so you can’t lock it running though. But the 2010 has a special thingy that allows you to start it from outside the car while locked so that it can warm up or cool off for you! Plus it has a solar powered cooling system that you can set to keep the car from getting hot on hot days.
The only thing I don’t like is the stupid spoiler on the back that limits rear vision and is made of plastic so ppl are tempted to push on it to close the back end and it breaks.
The 2010 though has a back-up camera and better mirrors so you can see all around the car…way cool.
I want one.
Did I say, I want one?
Well, I do.

Q: Does any one know how to get a good deal on new Toyota Prius?
I been thinking about getting a new Prius, but can’t seem to find a good deal on it, if any one know how to get a good deal on New Prius I will greatly appriciate if they share it with me.

A: Why does every car have to have an incentive or discount? Umm…to get the lowest price because new cars are insanely expensive these days, duh! LOL Ok, now back to your question, you aren’t likely to find any good deals on the Prius because it’s a very popular model now. Toyota is not making them in very large volume, so the few they produce are sold in a heartbeat. The dealership can afford to not be generous with discounts or even fair pricing. In some cases, dealers will even mark the price UP because they know how in demand a car is and they get away with it. The only way you’re probably going to find a good deal on a Prius is wait until they are less popular. Are you really sure you want a Prius? Similar sized small cars now get about 40mpg highway without all the high-tech, costly, and problematic gadgetry. There is a prediction replacement of the battery system in these hybrid cars will cost $6k-$10k. The Prius has had lots of problems with different components related to the hybrid system. You are much better off saving yourself a few thousand dollars from the start by buying a new Civic or Corolla, getting slightly worse fuel economy, and not having to worry about replacing all that expensive gadgetry in the Prius. I’ve heard they are a headache and don’t get the fuel mileage they claim.

Q: Is the new 2010 Toyota Prius good?
My dad is thinking of buying a new car because I took his old one and I recommended him the new Toyota Prius because he likes quiet and comfortable rides, and loves JBL. Also I have never been in a hybrid and I heard it’s amazing, so I want to experience it. Has it much improved from the previous model? If you have had any experience with the old and/or new one, please give me your opinion.

A: I have a 2007 Prius and would really like to have the third generation 2010.
My 2007 is a wonderful car that is extemely inexpensive to maintain and I average over 50 mpg in the summer months.

You probably already know this, but the base Prius costs over $3,000 less than the base Jetta TDI.

I disagree with the statement that insurance is more expensive on Hybrid’s.
The insurance on my 2007 Prius is less expensive than my wife’s insurance on her 2007 Mazda 3-i touring and we are on the same policy.

Q: Is it true that there is currently a 3-6 month wait to buy a new Toyota Prius?
I asked a salesman at the dealer in Des Moines, IA about looking at a Prius and he said he didn’t even have one to show me. He indicated I would basically have to put down a deposit on one without even a test drive.

A: Hi,

it depends on what part of the US you live in.

The MidWest does not get the allocations that the two coasts get, especially the West Coast.

Here in the Chicago region, a very large dealership I just spoke with yesterday (5/5) said there was between a 12 and 20 week wait, depending on what option and color package a person wanted.

They also have no Prius in TRAC service, which is Toyota’s loaner program for dealerships. So, they have none and are one of the largest in the Chicago area.

Just so you know, Toyota builds vehicles in batches. They combine orders for vehicles in like groups, depending on demand.

So (just as an example) they will build Prius with no additional options in the color black with gray interiors in a batch that you may be able to get very quickly because they get quite a few orders for that combination.

But there may not be as many orders for fully loaded gold Prius with the tan leather, so a person looking for that specific combination may have to wait longer, even if they put their deposit down on the same day as the people wanting the base in black and gray.

That is standard proceedure for any auto company these days. It minimizes vehicles in unpopular set-ups just sitting on lots and actually gets vehicles out to people who order them faster, believe it or not.

The only option I can give you is to keep checking around for someone who owns one and see if you can drive it (the dealership might help with that if they see you’re serious about ordering one).

The other things to check (if you can be flexible on the option package and color) with the dealership is what Prius combinations are ordered and how long certain combinations have been sitting there.

The person that places orders with Toyota will be able to tell you that information without revealing any personal information for the other people who have ordered.

If a certain dealership won’t do that, especially after you explain you’re looking to get the combos that Toyota is allocating, then call another dealership.

Good luck, and if this doesn’t do it, let me know.

Q: I have abrand new Toyota Prius-someone got the gas cap off and according to my mechanic poured sugar in tank?
if I try to sell it to private party, and they find out, what will happem Can they sue me for fraud?

A: First off, I think its disgusting that you would consider selling the car to someone else, passing the problem along and not telling you. YES. They can sue you, as it would be possible to prove how long the sugar had been in the system.

If you want the job done properly, have a fuel line flush, replace the fuel filter and drop the tank and drain and flush it.

Its not a big job and wont cost you any more than $500 which is a fraction of what it would cost you in court, when the person gets a statement off a mechanic saying that the sugar was in the tank when you sold it.

Dont be a lowlife and fix your car. Its not major. Is $500 worth a criminal charge?

Q: what do you think of the new toyota prius?
i have heard that its a great car and very dependable, is it worth 20,000 dollars for it i was looking into getting one, because i have a long commute to work. what do u think?

A: I own one. They get excellent mileage, varying from 43 to 60 mpg, depending on the season and how you drive it. They are highly reliable; so far repairs have consisted only of a broken windshield, a flat tire, and scheduled maintenance. Nothing else. I think it could be worth $20,000. My Prius is decreasing in value but eventually, when Peak Oil strikes, it could increase in value as Priuses vanish from auto dealership display rooms. If you have a long commute it will save you plenty in fuel, probably enough to make up for the higher price.

Q: I just purchased a new Toyota Prius and was not sure about buying the extended warranty. Does anyone have an?
educated opinion on this ? The dealer is pushing me to buy it but I was noncommital and have until Monday to decide. They are asking around $1,200.00 for the warranty.

A: Hi,

five things to remember:

1. There has never been an owner who has paid to replace their nickel metal hydride (NiMH) hybrid battery or any component of any Toyota hybrid due to failure or defects in the nine, almost ten, years Toyota has had hybrids in the US.

There have been NiMH replaced due to accidents and owner abuse or modification (one guy drilled a screw into his NiMH stack trying to install a big subwoofer).

Any thing else is complete myth. Common sense says if these things were failing, it would be all over the news.

Toyota has sold over 1,000,000 hybrids (over 900,000 Prius alone), so there are plenty out there to know if there were issues.

2. All Toyota hybrids are full hybrids (a full can move and run the air conditioning using only electricity, the gas engine does not have to start). A full hybrid actually has less parts and less moving parts than a standard vehicle.

The Prius has no starter, no alternator, no timing belt, no mechanical steering pump or steering belt, and the brake pads should never need to be replaced because of the regenerative braking system.

Less parts means less to warranty and be concerned about replacing.

3. Consumer Reports, in their April 2008 auto issue, did their annual review on whether extended warranties were worth the money.

Their final opinion is an extended warranty is not needed for Toyotas or Lexus’ because of their extremely strong reliability.

They did list all the major automakers and in that ranking, CR did show who they felt you would be better off with an extended warranty.

Essentially, they said the two conditions to consider buying an extended warranty were if you were purchasing a vehicle with very low reliability or for piece of mind.

4. You do have room to negotiate on an extended warranty.

5. Only purchase an extended warranty if it is from the manufacturer itself, never an aftermarket company to try and save a few bucks.

Aftermarket warranties are only worth the paper their printed on. If that aftermarket company goes out of business, you’re out of luck.

Good luck.

Q: Do you think Nancy Pelosi would look good driving around town in a new Toyota Prius?

A: Yes, as long as it’s deffinately a recalled one.

Q: Is there still a tax credit available for the purchase of a new Toyota prius?

A: Yes, but only partially. The credit is available until 12/31/10, but there is a 60,000 vehicle restriction. I believe it’s 25% currently.

Q: How much is the new Toyota PRIUS?
For the good of the Earth I tihnk we should all have one

A: Toyota.com will give you answers for all the various combinations – not that there are very many.

Just what a person would actually pay is more likely to be found on kbb.com. Get the true dealers cost at that site. I bought my Solara using that site and paid $500 over dealer cost. also bought a Corolla and paid $99 over dealer cost. Saw the dealer invoices each time, too, and kbb.com was exactly on the money.

Q: Does the new Toyota Prius commercial weirds you out?
The one that looks like Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory with Johnny Depp.

A: OMG I LOVE THOSE COMMERCIALS…

theres 3 in total..ill literally stand in front of the t.v when it comes….ITS SOOO FANTASTIC

like everything is made out of people…the clouds…the fish..the waterfall…trees..EVERYTHING

AND I LOVVEEE THE SUN with people dressed in yellow red and orange

Q: Should we put Obama’s health care package in a brand new Toyota Prius and send it off?
Racism?? Here we go again. Black people just can’t see past color can they?

A: hahaha yes

Q: Why would you buy a new toyota Prius?
The batteries are made in Canada, shipped to Europe, then China, then Japan only to get shipped back to the U.S. Thats a crapload of Diesel fuel used for delivery.

Not to mention the factory in Canada is one of the most polluting plants in Canada.

If you really care about the environment, why would you buy one?

Everyone knows it takes many years for the fuel savings to pay off.

I wouldn’t buy one because I’m an enthusiast, but can anyone explain to me why…lets say my mother wants to buy one. Im not trying to be a cock, just curious.

A: Because people have been BRAINWASHED into thinking that Toyota is some kind of car god. The only hybird I would buy is the new fusion. But I am a purist. Only big block carbuated straitpiped for me… or a F450.

You also forgot to mention that the pruis is ugly and costs to much. When you buy a Prius you buy a nameplate and the image that you are so ecofreindy

Q: What is the lowest anyone has gotten on the Toyota Prius (new)?
I am going to the dealership today and I was wondering what is a good debatable price.

Thanks

A: I got a base model on sale for $22,000 (normally $23,000) in Febraury last year.
